Ge Profile ice maker not working

Ice cubes are formed but ice is melting and clumps together and refreezes. Quite a bit of water is also dripping outside of bin and then refreezes inside of freezer. Ice supply is limited and freezer is set at -3 degrees. Drinking water is plentiful (as usual) that is coming out of refrigerator door. GE

after ice is made and in the ice bin the freezer seems to get stuck in defrost and melts the ice in the ice bin. The resulting water runs out of the ice bin and down to the shelves below where it re-freezes.

Same problem. I just took out the water filter to see if this may be the problem.

I saw that someone posted that we may have a bad water valve. Would that be in/at ice maker in the freezer or outside of the freezer?

You either have a bad water valve, which it is sticking open or B. the ice maker is not shutting the valve off.

The ice being produced is large clumps that melt and refreeze and stop the auger from turning. I have to use a blowdryer to melt the ice just to remove the bin. Any suggestions?

Can you provide a model number of the refrigerator? Is the water filling too high in the ice maker? Are the top of the ice cubes connected together before the ice drops into the ice bin?

Sometimes ice melts in ice maker. Water drips down and refreezes.

There is a heater built into the ice maker bottom to help release ice cubes from the machine. Under normal conditions the heater only come on when the ice maker starts to run and then jambs against the frozen cubes. When it stalls and jambs against the frozen ice cubes, the heater comes on to melt the cubes enough. I think you have a defective ice maker and the heater is coming on to much or at the wrong time, Since your temps go back to normal with the ice maker turned off, I am almost sure thats your problem.

Symptoms: Ice cubes melt, drip then refreeze causing

are you having any cooling problems? take a look at your ice cream, if you have any. does it look like it has melted and refrozen? if so, you have a cooling problem, and that is causing ice to melt, then refreeze. if you have no cooling problems, then you may have a faulty water valve solenoid, or even a faulty icemaker.

I have the exact same problem, curious if you have any answer...

If the ice melts in the ice maker I think something strange is going on with the heating element below the ice maker. It comes on only for a few seconds before the ice drops. And is used to loosen the ice. But if water continues to flow from the water control valve while the ice maker is full it has no where to go but into the freezer and refreeze. Sometimes the water control valves have trash buildup inside the valve and will not shut and allows the water to continue to flow. About the only way to solve that is replace the water control valve and place a pre-filter in the line before the water reaches the valve. Thanks, Sea Breeze

Ice maker dripping water fusing ice cubes

The dual water valve (solenoid) that open and let the water from the line when the ice maker calls for it, is leaking and needs to be replaced.
