SOURCE: Dell OptiPlex GX520 PC Desktop Problem

Hello everyone, check your cpu - I've just had one of these in for repair and the cpu was faulty - removing the ATX 4way 12v lead let the pc start rather then detecting a short and shutting the psu down. Changing the cpu cured the fault.

Thanks

SOURCE: Can't boot up Dell 5100 Dimension, amber light flashes

When you mean the amber light, is that the blinking hard drive access light or the power light? Different cases have different colors on it. Mine has blue and green lights.

If you see the boot screen (bios) and then after it goes to boot, does it blink and hang?

This could be a simple operating system issue, hard drive or hardware/motherboard issue. If you could provide more information, that would help.

My dell optiplex 790 desktop pc have a error code is 2-3-4 and some times 1-2 please i want help

Hello there
I have found two things which will help you.
A Technical Guide to the Optiplex 790 which will download from here:
http://www.dell.com/downloads/global/products/optix/en/optiplex-790-tech-guide.pdf
It is in pdf format and can be saved to your computer for future reference.
Also I found a Service Manual here:
Dell OptiPlex 990 Desktop Service Manual Page 76
If you click on the green download button at the top of the page then you will taken to a page where you enter 3 letters that are given to you and you can then opt to download it or view in your browser. In both cases it can be saved to your computer.
The latter has a good section on beep codes, and light codes on page 73 ( Chap 20) and following.
It gives your 2-3-4 as a possible USB failure, so try booting with no USB items attached - printer, flash drive, scanner, external drive etc.
It gives your 1-2 code as an expansion card failure and gives various means of checking.
Hope this is helpful, if so would you please register that with Fixya
Cheers

Flashing amber light

Hi, on most Dells a flashing amber light on the power button indicates a problem with the PSU or a short on the main power rail, if this is the case you should have 2 flashing lights as well, 1 & 3.

Del 320 optiplex orange lite blinks won't boot up

For the Optiplex 320, a flashing amber light with no sound indication can mean 3 things.

1) Your power supply has failed

2) Your motherboard failed, most likely from a bad capacitor.

3) The front panel board (where the power button is located) is faulty or not connected properly.

I've worked with 10's of 1000's of Dell Optiplex's over the past 8 years and the flashing amber light is well known as a tell-tail sign of one of those three failure. Always start your trouble shoot with a PSU tester, then inspect the motherboard for domed or split/leaking capacitors...then on to the front panel which would require another panel and ribbon from the same model.

My Dell optiplex 330 is not getting on only cpu's red light is flashing..

I am assuming you mean the power light is flashing, probably amber.

Here is a link that explains the codes.

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/op330/en/ug/tools.htm

A flashing amber light usually means there may be a power problem or an internal device malfunction. See the link.

My optiplex 330 is not powering up.the power botton flashes orangy bright when the pc is turned on.what the problem there please

The common issue related with a Flashing Amber Power Light is a BAD POWER SUPPLY. If the Amber Light is SOLID then it may be your MOTHERBOARD.

But if it is flashing repeatedly then it is your power supply, you will need to purchase a new one. Good Luck.
