Power supply cut off

Hi, I have an acer 3003 WCLi. The connection where the charger plugs in is messed up. Is there an adapter that might provide power via the battery plug in?

Thanks. yes, the DC jack is completely messed up. How would I go about getting it replaced? Is this feasible pricewise?

Is the connection loose? If so, that means that your DC Jack will need to replaced or resoldered. Unfortunately, there is no other way to connect a power adapter. You will have to get it replaced. We see this in my shop all the time, unfortunately.

It is feasible, but will probably cost about $100-$150.

I would start by checking with local computer repair shops in your area. One of them may do DC jack repair. If not, there are online vendors who allow you to ship your laptop to them, they fix it within a couple of days, and ship it back to you.

AC power adapter is plugged in. The laptop works fine on battery power but as soon as you connect it to AC adapter, the laptop turns off.

So your saying the charger will charge the battery, as long as the laptop is off...But when it is charged, you remove the ac adapter, start up the laptop, running on battery power alone, then hook the ac adapter to it, and the laptop cuts off..???

Acer Travelmate 6592G Charging problem

The power adapter id under powered by 1.32A that is why it takes a long time to charge and it is putting a lot of stress on the adapter and could cause it to overheat. The ticking sound could be the thermal cut out cutting the power to the laptop to prevent the power adapter from failing.

AC adapter 4750z

The solution to your problem lies in one of the following three areas:

1.) Your charger is faulty and is therefore not able to pass power to your laptops battery.

2.) The charging connector on the laptop has come loose from the contacts. Therefore a bad connection.

3.) Your battery is faulty.

I think possibility 2 is the most likely, although you will have to test possibility 3 by removing the battery and plugging in your charger and seeing if the laptop powers on.If it does power on then that rules out possibility 1 and 2 leaving a faulty battery.

If you need to buy a new laptop charger, the following to adapters are for your reference:

My Dell Latitude D160 won't respond at all. I have to constantly push the power on button to even get it to come on and when it does, the battery light is on red and I think it says low critical power...

I'm confused too... it sounds like the power adapter is not (electrically) connecting to the laptop or the adapter is not delivering proper voltage/amps to the laptop.

You shoud 1. make sure that the AC plug is properly in the AC socket, 2. that the AC cord is (mechanically) connected to the adapter, and 3. that the adapter is (mechanically) connected to the laptop.

I cannot tell you how many laptops I have seen where the (internal) power connector breaks as a result of (typically) mis-handling, dropping, etc. Try (gently) wiggling the adapter connector and look for the LED changing colors.

You could also test the voltage output of the adapter with a standard Volt meter...

My cauzin Got Acer Aspire 5920 !! its charger stop working she buy another charger for it !! but due to inexperience she bought 24 volts instead of 18 volts !! after charging some time the laptop isn't...

One of two things. The Power Connector (on the motherboard) or the motherboard itself. If it is just the power connector, you can purchase a new one for around $10 (look at the specs for your model) and solder a new one on. If it is the motherboard, you'll be replacing alot more than it most likely. It could have fried the GPU, memory and Proc.

And the following three condition should be met for you to use an AC Adapter safely.
1) Output Voltage is within +/- 5% of your old charger's output.
For example, if your old charger provides 19.5V, then you can use a charger that provides 20.5V or 18.5V.
2) Output Current is the same or higher than that of your old charger.
For example, if your original adapter provides 3.42 Amps, then you can use a charger that provides 3.42 Amps, 3.9 Amps or higher.
3) Connector tip must fit securely into your laptop.

Specification of Acer Aspire 5920 Charger:
Output: DC19V 3.42A
DC Connecter (Barrel) size:
Internal Diameter: 1.5mm
External Diameter: 5.5mm

Shut Down with message that battery power out. Was connected to AC via power supply at the time

When the ac adapter is plugged in does the charge light come on to indicate the battery is charging? If not, the charger has probably failed. Faulty battteries can also cause a charger to fail. Both need to be checked.

Acre Aspire -- 3000 series notebook -- Power adapter issue

It's a loose connection on the motherboard. The power connector on the motherboard will need to be re-soldered. You really don't need a new motherboard. You need to find a good Technician that can do this. I use to do this at my old job. We charged $65. Some places will charge up to $90 or so.
