Howdy, So when I connect the print server to the printer, it recognizes it as a fax machine. I comes up as MP530 FAX instead of printer. When I go to print something out, a fax window comes up on my computer. Any ideas on how to get the print server to recognize the printer as a printer instead of a fax? The printer I'm using is on the list of compatible devices. Thanks
This is absolutely the right solution. I used this for my Canon MP780 printer under Vista, as well. I want to include all of the keywords here. It is important to note that the DPR-1260 shipped with Firmware Version 1.12 cannot be seen by Visa until it is upgraded with the Version 1.21 firmware, but after downgrading back to the Version 1.12 firmware, the DPR-1260 is still visible and it now recognizes my Canon MP780 multifunction printer as a printer and not as a fax machine. I plan to post this same solution to other sites, so that hopefully others can get their DPRs working again. Whew!
I'm having the same issue with Canon MP830 - can't get the printer function at all. Anyone have any workaround?
Solution I have found so far for the MP830 is to re-install the firmware of the DPR-1260 back from version 1.21 (the latest) to 1.12. Don't know why this works but it got me printing. I'm a bit disappointed that the DPR-1260 doesn't support scanning with this printer, but maybe someone out there knows of a way?

You can try to install it again, as you browse the printer on network, insert the cd intaller then click your printer, start installing the driver thats it, you can use it already.
