Westinghouse 32h590: I put in a dvd and it says loading but eventually comes back with "No Disc". I even tried to hook up an external DVD player and I couldn't get it to work. Any ideas?

If 'no Disc' display is there, surely the laser pickup unit or its loading mechanism will have the fault. Check it.

SOURCE: The front load DVD player

You will have to have it serviced most likely because there are no user serviceable parts. Unfortunately Westinghouse tv's are throwaways. In that once something goes wrong you replace it. Unfortunately thats why they are cheaper then the competitors.
Thanks,

SOURCE: disc loads, makes click click sound then message no disc

that click click is the laser trying to focus and it is hitting the disc.
the biggest failure is the disc motors.they are very tiny motors and if they do not spin fast enough, the laser can not get the info it needs.
sometimes banging on it lightly while it is focusing will get the disc to spin.
with the price of new ones,it is not worth repair.
that is why i got out of the repair biz in 1995

SOURCE: westinghouse 42"lcd dvd player

We got a disk stuck in our Westinghouse also. After aticking toothpicks and butter knifes in there trying to get it out, we were told to unplug the power and plug it back in and try. When we did we could hear the DVD trying to come out. We stuck the butter knife in there and got it to pop up and out. We havent tried to put another one in but when we do we know how to get it out now.

Westinghouse user manual

For all optical disc players, the "No Disc" message indicates a problem with the lens tracking the data on the disc. If you have cleaned the disc and there are no scratches or it happens on multiple discs, the best solution is to replace the unit.

If the player is under warranty, contact Westinghouse. If your DVD player is built into a TV, try http://westinghousedigital.com/support/downloads/ for a manual.

I hope this helps.

Our TV/DVD player (LTV-32w4 HDC) is just out of the 4 year extended warranty we bought. The TV works fine, but the DVD player will not start up. When a disc is inserted, it seems to be trying to start...

Hello
According to your complaint post, the fult is due to its DVD mechanism itself. It will be best to replace the DVD tray mechanism [ plastic made one]. You can bought it from most of the electronic spare part shops at your town. But the model fitted with Westinghouse will be very difficult to get. Anyway try to get it. The fault is with loading tray mechanism itself. OK.

Westinghouse 26in tv/DVD combo a disc is in slot and will not come out

Possible failure of the loading drive which eventually has the disc locked within.
So what is important is to check the power to the DVD section, is absent check on the fusible reisistors or the fuses the player.
If there is power to the main board then check the drive IC of the loading motor for power and signal input from the processor.
If present then check for mechanical jamming of the drive, failure of motor or gears or a broken disc..

Samsung 3650 dvd/vcr player loading problem

Sorry, no suggestion other than don't buy Samsung. That's my conclusion after owning the same model. It worked fine for a while, but now won't load any DVD... usually. Sometimes it will play one, but more often it won't. Mine tries to load ("Loading") for a long time, I hear the DVD spinning, then ultimately the screen displays "This disc cannot be played" or something to that effect.

Disc won't load

Hi, I had the same problem with my PMD-100NT. I found that there was a motor inside that, I think, was moving the laser head was skipping and the head was not moving into position. I hooked a portable to the external jacks and I am just using it as a monitor. I am [email protected] if you have any questions.
