SOURCE: Air conditioner has loud hollow sound

After mine set up, I turned it on and it made a steady clanking sound, turns out there is black foam that is supposed to be glued behind the cooling fan and it had come undone and was hitting the fan. Slide the unit out of its shell and reach your hand in there and see if anything has come loose. (the fan towards the rear of the unit) good luck.

Unit makes a loud rattling noise when operating

Hello, most likely the fan blade is either loose or cracked at the hub causing the blade to hit the fan shroud. You will either have tighten the fan blade or have to get a replacement.

Hi - My refrigerator has begun making a very loud noise - like an airplane engine - when it kicks on. After a few minutes the sound recedes but is still louder than normal. The bottom freezer is way too...

it sounds like ice built up arounnd the fan blade probably from leaving the bottom freezer door open and warm air got in and froze up the air ducts or you have a defrost problem but if you hear a cracking sound it sounds like the heater is coming on but can't melt out all the ice.try this, take out all the food out of the freezer, unplug it,get a hair dryer and blow the hot air at the back wall where the vent holes are and melt out all the ice, when you look into the vent holes and don't see anymore water dripping down you can plug it back in and with your hand feel to see if you can feel the air blowing into the fridge section,if you feel the air then you melted out the ice and if the noise is gone then the evap fan motor is still good,if there's alot of ice and snow on the back wall you should remove the panel and then melt out all the ice with the hair dryer.also if you have another fridge you can unplug the fridge and let it melt out on it's own for like a day

Fan is making clunking sound like it is hitting something.

Yes, it certainly can be, especially in high humidity. Run AC just about 1/4 way from max and crack the windows. The ac will work better and ice up less.

Random "Cracking" Noise

Its refrigerant gas has leaked out so ice is forming on the evaporator which breaks and causes this cracking sound. The same is resulting in less cooling as well. Get the refrigerant gas pressure checked and fixed.
