I think I am really in a bind at this point. I don't have the software for it or the cd-rom. I have entered the IP address I found online on our computer that has the router to it--and it didn't give me the configuration information I needed.

Re:
You have to install this with the software. It does not have an IP address by default. Once you use the software you can setup SSID and security (WEP, WAP, etc.)

Look at this web page and you will get what you need.
http://support.linksys.com/en-us/support/accesspoints/WAP610N But if you already have it setup, you really don't need it. Plus if you know the IP of your WAP you can open a webpage and put the IP in the address/url location and then you can get into that WAP without the setup software. In reality you really don't need the setup software if you know the default IP to get into he unit.
If you have the CD that comes with the adapter then you can try
uninstall Linksys software and install only the drivers of the adapter.
Remove
the Linksys Adapter and un-install the Linksys Software from Programs
menu. To re-install the Drivers insert the Linksys Setup CD into your
CD-ROM drive. When the Welcome screen appears click Exit. Connect your
USB adapter to the computer. When the Found new Hardware Wizard window
appears, click Install the software automatically (Recommended) then
click Next. Click Finish when the installation is complete.Try to connect to the wireless network again. See if that works. You
can also download the latest drivers from Linksys website on any other
computer. Save it on a Flash drive and transfer the drivers on your
computer.
Under Windows 7, press the "Start" button.
Type 'cmd' into the search-box, and press ENTER.
Type 'ipconfig /all', and press ENTER.
Look for the IP-address for the "gateway" (or "DHCP-server").
Type that IP-address into your web-browser.
Hi at first please check about viruses and another software control the Nic Cards
then notify that if you use Router or DHCP Server that there's available IP's or you can assign static one ...
you can check that : when it disconnect just go to run and type cmd and press enter write ipconfig and press enter and see the IP address .. if it belong to 169.254.x.x then check in access point or in server
You have mentioned that you have a modem connected to one computer already, if you want to access another computer from a different computer through a wireless adapter then you need a wireless router or access point to transmit the wireless signal, because the Belkin N150 Wireless USB adapter which you have bought is just a "receiver".
If you have router already connected to your modem then please give the brand name of the router you have
The Ethernet adapter may be conflicting or competing with the wireless
adapter for the Internet connection. Try turning off the wireless
adapter. You can either disable it in device manager, or some HP
laptops have a button next to the screen that will turn it off. If you
don't get an Internet connection, restart the laptop and try again.
If that doesn't help, I would suspect the Ethernet adapter driver is
faulty. Check it under device manager. If it has a yellow exclamation
point, question mark, or is not listed, the driver needs to be
installed or reinstalled. If it simply has a red X on it, enable the
adapter.
If the Ethernet adapter is fine, try a different Ethernet cable. If THAT doesn't help, it's probably software related.
A firewall may be keeping you from browsing. Some firewalls may see the
Ethernet connection as an entirely different connection than the
wireless one. Try disabling all firewalls.
go to this particular site:http://www.dynexproducts.com/t-drivers.aspx from there go the networking option.check the model and click on any of the two options.u will asked to save the file,,save it on the desktop and then run the file with the adapter plugged in to ur computer..TAt shud solve ur problem, best of luck, plz infm me if it gets solved
