Panasonic PT-53WX54 My Panasonic t.v. won't stay on. It'll turn on for about 2 seconds then turn automatically off. The first problem that I had with my t.v. was that the color convergence got all screwed up, then it wouldn't stay on for more than 2-3 seconds after I'd press the on/off button. Can anyone tell me what's going on with my t.v.?

Picture Stretch on Panasonic PT-53WX54

Usually this is an indication of a failing capacitor in the vertical circuit. Have those been checked? I would look for 100ufd caps in the vertical circuit. Check with the tech.

Panasonic PT-53WX54 What is that popping noise?

A loud popping noise, like a sharp "snap!", is usually caused by high voltage arcing. Somewhere in the high voltage system an insulator may be cracked or loose, such as the plastic around the flyback transformer or one of the rubber cups on a picture tube. When the high voltage arcs, it momentarily drops and the picture could go out for a split second. High voltage is dangerous in projection sets so allow a qualified tech to service it for you.
