Pics on card gone after upload to PC

I uploaded pics from my Olympus digital camera to my PC as I have done a hundred times before. All pics on the Smartmedia card in the camera are now deleted...not sure what happened. I did not go into the settings on the camera to delete all pics, only uploaded them to my computer with USB cable.

As long as the smartmedia card was not formatted it is possible to recover the images that were accidently erased, lost or corrupted. You can go to the following website link and download an image recovery software program that is free of charge.

You want to download a program called Zero Assumption Recovery. It is a very simple program to use and many people have had much success in recovering lost images.

Data recovery is a booming industry, and many appropriate services and software can be found by searching regional phone and business directories or the Internet for terms such as "image recovery" or "data recovery".

I cannot get my camera to upload pic tomy computer

Having gone over a month without a response to my query, I assume my suggestion to use a card reader solved the problem.

Memory card showing 'no image' after trying to upload

Sounds like you didn't use the "safely remove hardware" function when you disconnected the USB cable. This can corrupt the card and even the camera. You could try using a separate card reader to download the pics from the card. If that works, and the pics are safely downloaded, then you should format the card in the camera to erase and optimize it. If it doesn't work, take the card to a Walmart that has a Kodak Picture Kiosk and it should be able to read your card. You can print the pics or even make a cd of them. Then, format the card in the camera.

Card not initializing then wont format

Hi
It sounds like the card is faulty (it does happen). I had one that acted similarly. You could try using the card in another camera to check - I have a card that works OK in Olympus camera but not at all in Fuji!
Best of luck

Olympus Digital camera memory card problem.

clean the contacts with a pencil eraser gently, or use a little alcohol on a q-tip. The cards are pretty tough, but are not designed to be removed hundreds of times, can you use the USB cable? Clean and format. If the card has irreplaceable pics on it, you can use card recovery software available on the net.
