My camera will turn on but the shutter won't open!

I have an olympus camera and a few months ago I spilled a tiny bit of juice on it. The shutter just got a little sticky and no harm was done to the camera. It was working perfectly. Later on, I found that my camera would turn on, and occasionally the shutter would open but then go back in again, and every time I try to turn it on, it just goes to my last picture that I took. My buttons and settings will not work, and I can not press the power button for the camera to turn off. Sometimes if I press a certain button it will flash to my first picture. I know my shutter is working, but what could be wrong?

my olympus digital camera FE 190 won't turn on eventhough I charged its battery. nothing happened with the camera, it was just in my bag since I came from a 5 day travel and I still used it. also, i observed the charger, its red light did not go steady while charging, it went on and off, unlike before that it went steady while charging. I am far from the big city and I want to know the remedy of this problem. thank you.

Tiny bits of juice, remember? maybe (or I am sure) this tiny became corrosive inside the camera. (orange juice is the no.1 in my corrosive juice list, water is the least). You need to open and clean it, or a pro fix is necessary.

I have a coolpix and I spilled orange juice on it. I imediatly cleaned and dried it off but when I would try to turn it on...nothing. It's been a few months I tried to turn it on and it says battery...

First off, are you sure that the battery is charged? It is definitely possible that spilling orange juice on it messed it up, but it might be all right.
Assuming the battery is charged, it is likely that the spill caused some internal damage. When you spilled on it, did you open the battery door, take the battery out, and allow the the camera to air-dry completely before turning it on? If you didn't, it is almost surely fried. If you didn't allow it to air-dry, it is likely that there was residual moisture and liquid on the internal components, and when you powered it on you likely messed them up. This is really a repair that is not worth paying for, as the cost of a new camera would be much cheaper.

I am from the philippines and i own an olympus e 3 dslr. when i use it, upon being turned on, it will focus just as quikly as before but the shutter would not 'click' or function. do you think the shutter...

Remove the lens and fire off a few shots. Does everything work properly? Put the lens back on and try it again. If it still won't work, then I suggest you go to the Olympus website, click on support, and e-mail one of their technicians about your problem. They can direct you from there as to wether you need to send it in for service and where.

My Olympus fe just stopped working. I changed the batteries and that wasn't the problem. It will not turn on! The viewing window is dark, only the tiny light blinks.

you camera is turned on but the shutter seems not to open the reason you only see a dark screen. remove battery and press and hold power button for one min. reinsert battery and try again. if it still doesnt work it might require to be send to depot.

Lens blocked? Canon PowerShot SD1100 IS, recently water damaged

A stuck shutter is another common failure mode for digital cameras. The symptoms of a stuck or "sticky" shutter are very similar to CCD image sensor failure. The camera may take black pictures (for shutter stuck closed), or the pictures may be very bright and overexposed, especially when taken outdoors (for shutter stuck open).

To confirm a stuck shutter, put the camera in any mode other than "Auto", and turn the flash OFF (you don't want to blind yourself for the next step). Next look down the lens and take a picture. You should see a tiny flicker in the center of the lens as the shutter opens and closes. If no movement is seen, then you likely have a stuck shutter. If so, please see the following for further info and a simple fix that may help:

Shutter malfunction

It sounds like a part of your electronic system shorted. It's unusual anything works at all.
THe front and back housing fit together like a **** shell. After you have removed all the screws gently pry a thin blade between the halves and start seperating them little by little. You have to be careful since quiete often there are buttons and/or contacts that may fall out when you do the separation. You may want to try and pry off the front cover first (fewer buttons).
There is no real loss trying it, any repair (by a shop) would likely cost more then replacing the camera.

Shutter Problem

I had an Olympus C-3000 this same type of sympton happened to me. I sent it off to Olympus to be fixed (via local camera dealer). When it came back, after about 10 shots, it failed again the same way. Back to Olympus a second time. Came back and failed again after about 10 shots. This time dealer worked with Olympus and I was given a new reburbished camera (same model). This whole thing took about 4 months. Time frame was a couple of years ago.
