GPS Maps 60 Won't turn on...

You have to purchase map updates from Garmin. No freebies.

I too have had a problem with mine no longer charging. I talked to the manufacture. Since the cord light is on however my torchlights charging light is not on they said could be the batt or could be a bad wire in the charger. I've been debating whether to send it in for fix or buy a new batt to try first. For yours I would send in for repair. Unfortunately these lights only come with a 1 yr manufacturing warranty so if you've had it over a yr you will end up paying 60-130 was the price range I was quoted depending on the problem.

That could be an update for maps or software..... software updates are free... new maps are from 50 to 60 dollars..... but do a software update first...if your maps are more that 2 years old i would buy new map

with the unit Off...... connect your gps to your computer using the usb cable..(usb cable is the same connection most cameras use to connect to computers)

your computer will detect new hardware (usb) minimise pop up box

go to www.mygarmin.com register your gps (free) it too will detect your gps model and let you update Firmware and Maps

it will tell you to download WebUpDater utility to transfer files to your gps... Done !

If you're "recharging" via the car charger - you might want to try charging via USB jack on your computer - or AC adapter (if your GPS shipped with one) for 5 or more hours.

Many Garmin units develop this condition when used strictly in the car / cigar outlet power source. While connected to your computer, you should go to Garmin's website and download, install & run the "webupdater" software. When complete, your Garmin GPS will have the latest firmware and patches to the software (not maps!).

After charging via USB or AC adapter, your GPS should stay on. If your GPS turns on via a slide switch on the top, Slide the switch from OFF and hold in the ON position for 10 seconds before letting go of the switch. This should force a "boot" on the GPS.

If you're unable to get the device to power up, contact Garmin Support to determine if your device is affected by a a recent battery recall or if there are other suggestions they have to solve the problem.

Disconnect the nuvi from the car charger and connect it to your computer's USB port with the supplied cable (or any USB cable you have that fits it), and leave connected overnight (8 + hours).

You should be able to get the GPS to start up as expected after charging via USB port. if this happens again, simply repeat.

try connecting it to your computer via the usb cable. that may reset it. outdated maps will not cause this problem.

Download the Garmin Communicator Plugin and Web Updater software from Garmin's website - both tools are free and will load the proper USB drivers for your 765T.

Ensure that the battery is fully charged via the battery strength icon, prior to aquiring satellites.

To reset the 765T: Hold finger or thumb on lower right hand corner of screen while powering the unit on from the off position. This will erase all user data.

go on garmin, connect your gps via usb , get map install program and you should be fine, works on any operating system

Use a USB connection to your computer and let it charge for three hours. Also download updates while your at it. Cigarette lighter charger is not efficient

I have the same problem. The unit works until I connect it to whatever computer via USB (Mac or PC). The screen blanks out as soon as I plug in the USB cable. I have to disconnect the device and only then I am able to turn it on again. That started after Firmware update from V 2.90 to 3.00 . I am not sure this is causing problem. What about the firmware versions of your devices ? Are they all on the latest ?
However, does anybody know if there is a way to go back to firmware version 2.9 if it is not possible anymore to connect the device to any computer (evtl. through putting data on the microSD card ?).
