Downloading digital camera to computer

I just changed over to Windows Vista, and the camera will not download pictures to the computer. Do I need a new driver, and is there one available for Vista programs?

I can't download pictures from my Vivitar 3X 53405 anymore. It used to be so easy. A screen would pop up giving me a choice of what I wanted to do and that was that. Now I hear the sound like before but no box appears. I've checked all connections and I hear the sound I heard wheb it was working right but I see no box popping up.

I have the same problem a lot of people seem to be having. I have a new computer with Windows Vista installed on it and now my camera isn't being recognized at all. It is like it isn't even plugged in or turned on. Just not there. I could buy a card reader for it but I would rather be advised if and when a new driver is created for Windows Vista to read this particular camera. Meanwhile, I can just use my old computer to download the pictures and then transfer them to my new computer. I am also thinking I might be able to burn a Linux CD and run it off the CD drive. Linux might be able to read it where Vista can't.

I'm not familiar with the Vivicam, but most cameras do not require any software. You just plug in the cable to a USB port on the computer and then look in Start - My Computer for the camera's memory. If that does not work, try some other USB device to make sure the computer's USB port is actually working. A memory stick would be perfect to try. If the port does not work, take the computer back to the store and have them fix it. Probably just a matter of the ports not being enabled in the computer setup or a loose connection. If you have ports on both the front and back of the computer, try them. If all else fails, you could use a card reader. Many all-in-one printer devices have card readers and you can buy a little card reader for perhaps $25 so you can take the memory card out of the camera and read it on the computer.

Casio software with Windows Vista

You don't need any additional software.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or, despite what I said first, you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

When plugged into laptop the camera does NOT load the pictures.

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

Downloading pictures

Yes, you need a driver so that your operating system understands how to interface to your camera. Canon Europe has a handy web page:

http://software.canon-europe.com/products/0010192.asp

Enter your operating system and language, and you will get the choices of things that can be downloaded relevant to your camera. If you were using Windows Vista, for example, your choice would be "Canon Camera USB WIA Driver for Windows Vista". Install that, reboot, and then connect your camera again. It should be recognized by your computer.

Downloading to computer

Sounds like a Vista or Picasso problem. Suggest you use explorer to copy photos directly from camera to a folder on your computer, then look at them and see if they are OK, if so, it is a Picasso problem. If the same, is likely a Vista problem. If still in doubt. Take memory stick to a photo lab and load on their system and see what you get.

I have had nothing but problems with my Fuji S700 camera, It never downloads the first time, I always get error messages. Sometimes just sits there. I love this camera but hate the downloading process. I loved Kodak Easyshare should have stayed with them and just upgraded a bit. AWGWGWGWGWG

Downloading pictures to Windows vista

You can remove the memory card from the camera and put into a card reader if your computer has one.

It could be the cable between your camera and the computer is shorted. You might have to replace it.
