Question about Alpine PDX-1.600 Car Audio Amplifier

PDX-1.600 no sound from speakers

The amp is wired correctly and recieves its signal from an Alpine CDA 9884 H/U. I have the amp running a 10" Kappa. When connected the speaker makes no music. I've determined that the speaker is not blown, that the rcas are carrying a signal and that the subwoofer is turned on at the H/U. There is a little noise that comes from the speaker it is a very faint popping noise that is very consistent and not sparatic. It is not loud and is not affected when volume is turned up. Any Ideas?

It isn't the sub, I've hooked it up to my 4 channel to check to see if that was the case. I worked just fine.

Has anyone had problems with this amp? It seems as thought the amp is not processing the signal from my rca's. I know that there is a signal coming through the rca's, because they provide a signal to other amps in my system. Do you think that this is a warranty issue?

Alpine cda 9884 has no sound in cd or ipod mode

actually, chrysler/dodge has factory Infinity sound systems installed. The nice part about these systems is that you dont have to bypass the amplifiers in order to put a new radio in, but simply power up the amp by hooking up the amp turn on wire at the harness. The alpine should have 2 blue wires coming off of the back, one that is solid, the other with a white stripe. The one that is solid only has 12v when the fm/am radio is on (used for power antenna) but cuts off when other sources are used (cd,aux, ipod). My guesses are, you have the amp wire on the vehicle harness (blue) tied into this wire, instead of the BLUE/WHITE wire on the alpine which has 12v as long as the radio is on. i hope this solves your problem, 9 times out of 10 on a chrysler this is it.

Hooking up alpine hd radio unit, bt-400, which one do i hook ipod to

Niether .... do you know what you have in hand? Both those extras costed someone some cash ... OK here it is: the CDA-9884 has a dedicated input for ipod (a KCE-422i cable is needed and comes with the new CDA-9884 in the box) ... The HD radio unit allows you to recieve new HD radio signals (digital radio, and stations that have it in your area may also have extra music streams like HD TV does). The bt-400 is a bluetooth adapter to use bluetooth enabled devices with such as a cell phone. If your ipod has bluetooth you could used the bt adapter but I suggest the KCE-422i cable instead, and check out the HD radio too, it's pretty cool.

NO sound!

disconnect all 4 speakers, make sure the speaker wires dont touch each other...turn on th stereo and re-connect the speakers one by one.. if you connect one particular speaker and it makes the sound mute, then that is your bad speaker, and / or wiring.

Instaling alpine car/cd stereo cda 9807

Its probably your wiring harness that came with the stereo. Which can cause many more problems. alpine changed their wiring harness around that time. But they used the same plug, just wired different. So now there are crossed wires, but the plug fits, causing the amp chip to fry. maybe even further than the amp chip. an amp chip replacement runs about 80$ at a repair shop. if its just that.

How to wire a stereo system

Connect the 2 gage to the battery thru at least s 50 amp fuse, then connect the capacitor in line before the amps. Then run the 2 gage to a connector/splitter block and run 4 gage leads to each amp. You also will need at least 4 gage ground leads from each amp to a body grounded bolt or screw. You need to run a quality set of speaker leads from the head unit to the amps. The speakers will need separate leads from the amp to each speaker. You will need to try some different combinations to get the sound and bass you want. You want to be able to fade from front to rear and control everything thru the head unit.
Use a hole saw to cut a 2 to 3 inch diameter hole in the side of the speaker box for a port to get a better punch from the sub.
Hope this helps some....
