Gigabyte ga-f2a88xm-d3h won't boot, The fans come on, the drives spin up, but no post or video output. There is no power to the mouse or keyboard. Using 500 w PS as reccomended by manual.

Sounds like a voltage regulator has failed on the board. Check the capacitors in the power area are not raised on the tops. Check all the voltage outputs are present from the power supply.

Foxconn Cinema Deluxe PCI Slot

http://www.foxconnchannel.com/ProductDetail.aspx?T=Motherboard&U=en-us0000472

Driver: Small piece of software that allows the Operating System to communicate with a device

Click on the Tech Support tab.
(Overview / Specification / News / Tech Support)

Type: Click on the blue down arrow to the right of this box, then click on Drivers

AMD chipset driver for Win 7
AMD chipset driver for Vista
AMD chipset driver for WinXP

The chipset term used is for the motherboard chipset.
The motherboard chipset for your motherboard, is an AMD 785G - Northbridge chip, and an AMD SB710 - Southbridge chip.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_AMD_Chipsets#A-Link_Express_II

Scroll down to AMD 785G chipset in the left column.

The Northbridge chip handles the Faster capabilities of a computer.
Processor, Ram Memory, and HIGH-speed graphics.

AGP and PCI Express technology is HIGH-speed graphics.

Using a graphics card in a PCI slot is Not high-speed graphics.
Using Integrated graphics from the motherboard, is Not high-speed graphics.

The Southbridge chip handles the slower capabilities of a computer.
1) PCI bus and Integrated graphics

(Integrated Graphics is also referred to as OnBoard graphics. A term that explains better I feel.
ON the motherBOARD )

2) IDE (PATA) bus
3) SATA bus
4) USB bus
5) Ethernet
6) Audio (Sound)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Motherboard_diagram.svg

(CPU = Central Processing Unit.
Another term used is Microprocessor, or simply Processor for short.
The 'Brain' of the computer.
Does NOT mean Personal Computer )

This is why I think you need to download, AND install the proper chipset drivers. (Proper being matched to the Operating System)

When you go to download, AND install.
I would like to know the procedure you used.
(The driver file should be saved, then opened, and installed)

Post back in a Comment.

(I have had some people who downloaded, but did not install; and thought that would work)

System will not start up. Cpu fan spins once, then nothing.

It is more than likely that when your old power supply died a death, it damaged some components on the motherboard. Replace the Motherboard and chip, and you should be back in business. You can pick up some good value bundles to save money on buying the parts seperately. The power supply working again after turning off and on, is because there is a little trip in the power supply that triggers when it detects a fault. Powering down resets that trip allowing it to try and work again.

Motherboard problem..

It sounds like the front panel wire has either come loose from the motherboard or is plugged into the wrong spot. Recheck the motherboard to see if the wires are in the right place & not loose. Hope this helps.
