Incompatibility between my laptop and my expansion unit

I purchased from Dell at the same time a Dell Studio 1735 laptop and a Targus ACP60 desktop expansion unit.
When I install the software for the targus a number of my usb drivers do not work. When I switch off my laptop the drivers and icon for the targus uninstall.
I get back the laptop usb drivers by unistalling them and allowing windows (vista) to reinstall them.
I have tried Dell and they have been completely useless blaming windows vista.
I have tried to resolve this problem for months.
Please can anyone help.

    I just tried the vista drivers for the targus but the same problem occurred. It was then necessary to reinstall the other USB drivers and let vista reinstall them..

    The targus drivers can hang when they are installed but this does not happen everytime, However when I reboot certain usb devices do not work. The targus icon appears in the bottom right on the first reboot but not on any reboot after that. I also find that my mouse driver will jump when working in applications.

    After downloading the driver I tried to install it - instead, Virtual-CD started to install - is this a part of the installation process? And if so, what's the serial number?

hi,

First restart the laptop,if this step does not work,take out the battery plug the adaptor and start it if the second does not work the start usualy and connect external monitor to the laptop if works then your sceen is demaged.

Error 0146 indicates a failed/failing hard drive or bad drive sector.
Basically, this means your hard drive will need to be replaced.

A computer repair shop can help you with recover your data if is not damaged by the bad sectors.

I recomend to change the system to windows 7 (32bit) because the support for vista is out by this year.

My dell studio 1735 will not turn on

You mean you have no display in your monitor?If it is the problem. Then your computer has something wrong with it. Did it beep several times while you turn your computer on?There are different types of beeps and it gives different meanings. I suggest it is better to take your computer into a service center and have it check by a qualified technician. Comments please for further assistance. Thank you..:-)
