Question about Alpine CDE-9845 CD Player

1 Answer

CDE-9845 is not turning on or doing anything.

I had some problems with my alternator, so I took my car into the shop to get it fixed. After that, my CDE-9845 would not turn on. I took it back to the shop and they said that my car has power and no fuses are blown....it's the CDE-9845 that's not working. Is my stereo toast or is there some way to replace a fuse or fix my stereo easily? I already tried replacing the red fuse in the back, but it did not help.

The only way to know for sure is to see if it has voltage getting to it. You need a Voltage tester (DMM, testlight, etc...). There should be 12 volts on the yellow always and on the red wire when the Ignition/Accessory is on. If both are present then the radio probably got surged and will have to be replaced/repaired.

Subwoofer for alpine cde-9843

In short, no.

The CDE-9843 cannot drive a sub of the type you mention without an amp, but you can fit a sub with it's own built-in amp.

As standard, the head unit has a basic in-built amp supplying 4 x 16w RMS at 4ohms but there is the facility via the unit's own menu to turn off the in built amp and use the output sockets as a pre-amp feed, but in reality if you want to drive an amp you'd be better off to start with a more highly specified head unit to begin with, even the next model up, the CDE-9845 is better suited as there are pre-outs for front and rear speakers.

AUX to work

Hello alex_maya21,

The AUX input on your CDE-9845 is on the back of the receiver. To use it, you need a cable with the appropriate connectors on each end. The receiver end needs to be a standard "mini plug" and the device end needs to match the output connector on your mp3 or iPod. There are many commercially available cables that you can plug in and run the device end under the dash to a convenient location. Almost any car audio retailer will have the correct cable or you can order one online from www.crutchfield.com.

Hope this helps.
