My earphone jack use to work with my player. But the other day I put it in and it either played only the left side or only the right, or it would jump back and forth and be unclear. The only way it will work is if i press it down with my finger really hard. But I can't do that when my hands are not free. Sometimes I can turn the jack a certain way and it might be clear in both ears. I tried using other headphones and I still had the same problem. Is there something maybe down in the hole of the jack? If so what is the best way to get it out. I am upset because I just got this player a few months ago. And my jack is the standard size, because it worked before. I am very angry about this, and would appreciate your help.

take it apart resolder the connections. if the jack itself is bad see if you can find a new one. never worked on something that small myself, but should be fairly straighforward

I had the same problem on my e200 series after maybe 8 months of use. If you apply some pressure from the side of the plug, the sound should come back. Wiggle it even. If this is the case, there is a connection problem. If under a year old, RMA it with the company, I just got mine back from the same issue. I have also read that if not under warrenty, you can take aprt the player and apply a shim (piece of cardboard the thinkness of a matchbook cover) inside to fix. There are other posting on the web that describe this in detail from people who claim to have done this sucessfully. Cheers

Its either the jack or the connector in the device is the problem. You can try connecting other headphone, if this works, then the problem lies on the jack of the old headphone.
