Can't install windows XP on a new 500GB Hard Disk

I'm trying to install a W.D. 500GB Hard Disk instead of my old and damaged H.D. of 250GB. First I tried without success to run an image (Acronis) of my old system, and then I tried to install a windows XP home edition but the system recognized only 130MB, then I tried a windows XP pro, the system recognized the all size of the H.D. but stopped in the middle.
Maybe the problem is with my BIOS Version CY91510A.86A.0039?

Go to the manufacturers website and see what bios updates there are ? If any relate to recognizing hard drive capacity then it will be worth while installing the update onto the motherboard.

If not then check your motherboard for enabling LBA and if you read the manual it should explain what each option is for.

Also might be worth while slip streaming your xp installation disc with the sata drivers for your motherboard ( the sata drivers you can get from your motherboard manufacturers website, download and extract them and then use nlite to combine the sata drivers with the xp disc and re burn the xp disc ensuring to make it bootable )

Nlite website

Seeing as you are combining drivers it may be worth while getting all the other drivers ie network card, graphics, audio etc and combing that with your bootable xp disc.

Sir i have intel 965ry mother board i want to connect 3 250gb sata hdd s but the system as slowly why

dear friend
Because it must recognise the three hard disk of 250GB, and memory is not frequent to working with large amount hard disk.
It is better to work with only one hard disk of 250GB. According to mother board requirement it supports up to 500Gb Hard disk but single hard disk of 500GB.

Hard disk Recognition problem

U are actually facing the same problem as "jackwilkinso". As my previous post: Windows XP does not come out to support SATA hard drive, because inside do not inclued the SATA driver, that why u cannot see the harddisk during the setup. What u can do is try to install the SATA supported OS like Windows Vista or Windows 7, or maybe can "forcely" put in the SATA driver in ur Windows XP setup CD.

2 hard disks

Because you have a dual boot system, you have two 'C' drives, which in fact is a good idea if you get a system failure on the drive you are using, you can select the other and still view any files on the other drive through my computer.

f using XP, right click my computer, then properties, then click advanced tab, then startup and recovery listing click settings, at the top system startup, select the default operating system, then click EDIT button, then delete the value that points to the other hard drive more than likely listed as disc1, disk 0 will be the one you have connected as master boot hard drive
