I noticed in the past couple of cleanings that my vacuum doesnt seem to pick up anything except for when i use the attachments and also it seems to take alot f effort to move the vacuum across the carpet...
How do you replace the belts? Is the 40201170 the correct belt to replace it with? How do you replace the belts? Is the 40201170 the correct belt to replace it with?
I have the 6634-900 model. I bought it at Target, about a year ago, brand new in the box. I have had trouble with the self-propelled option not working, and the on-off switch does not work. But, the real problem is the roller does not spin. It will roll if I push it sometimes. And the suction is good, so it picks up somethings in its path. I just spoke with Hoover, and I have to produce the receipt, take it to a local dealer, and if it is out of warranty, I am looking at a minimum bill of $50-75 and higher.
Out of frustration last night, wanting to vacuum....I took apart the handle and re-aligned the on-off switch and positioned the self-propelled option in the off position and tape it, on the outside, so it would not move. Now, the vacuum will turn on and off and I am not going to use the self-propelled option. Soooooooo frustrating. And what a dirty job..ugh.
The repair store said because the little v-shaped belt looks shiny on the side, it might be caused by a pulley switch not operating...where is the pulley switch located?I have the 6634-900 model. Mine does the same thing. There is no suction. I found that there is a door that opens when you tilt the handle in the down possition. I think there should be a spring in place so it can open. Until I find a replacement spring I have to open the door manually throught the opening under the light.

It's an issue that the front roller isn't engaged. there's usually a belt connected to the roller on one side of it. That belt is connected to the same motor that develops the suction. You have to find that area and either pull the belt over the motor and/or the brush. Close it back up and turn it on again.
In order to have suction you need air flow.Essentialy,a vacuum cleaner is trying to create a vacuum the whole time it's on.Just because the beater bar turns doesn't have anything to do with the suction. That is created inside the canister. You have an obstruction in the hose anywhere between the motor and the power brush.
we have an eureka 4495 model and it doesnt want to pick up the dirt off the floor but the hoses are clean and the hose it self has suction and the roller and belt are ok and turn
How do you replace the belts?
