Philips Magnavox 20MF605T17 20-Inch Flat Panel LCD TV with NTSC Tuner Logo
Anonymous Posted on Aug 27, 2013

Have a Philips 20mf605t/17. It powers on and with coax connected displays picture and audio fine on channel 4. Trying to change volume or channel the set resets. I can open and navigate the menu but trying to change any settings like source or auto channel the set resets. Tried factory reset but set resets. I can manually enter channels and it will go there for the first 13 channels. But I can not change tuner setting to get above that and on top of it I can not adjust the volume because the set resets. Tried to get it into service mode but cant change the source and tried holding down both volumes while turning on anyways with no luck. This set has been unplugged for at least two years so letting it time out to factory will not work. Have never seen a TV act in this manner before.

SOURCE: Menu problem

The first thing to try when you lose any feature or function is to unplug the set from it's power source for a minute to allow reset. The second thing to look closely at is to see if any button on the set or remote is engaged, meaning stuck. Sometimes a button gets lodged beneath it's surrounding framework and blocks certain commands from operating. If these two things fail to correct it, then it's time for a repairman, which, believe me, we're seeing alot of these lcd sets in for repair even only a year or two old. Most have power or screen issues, but yours sounds like there is a failure on the main p.c.b. This board controls audio/video processing and all information sent to the screen and speakers. Good luck with reset because defective replacement boards are becoming more and more numerous these days, Russmann.

Hooking sayyo tv to directv

Not sure if I understand what is happening here but if set on channel 4 the connection for the direct TV would have to be to the coax fitting on the rear of the set.

For the audio/video inputs on the rear or side it would have to be the same ones coming out of the direct TV box to one of the same but inputs on the rear--Audio/video are one connection and coax for channel four is a different one.

I am trying to hook up my Philips 19PR19 (made in 1998) tv to the dish network receiver, it has 3 prongs diff. colors attached and the cable cord is already to go in the wall...I don't see anywhere on the...

Because your TV is an older one, it might not have, what they call RCA inputs (the 3 colored cable) Red-audio right, White-audio left, Yellow-video. If I understand you.

You do have the option of using the 75-ohm coaxial cable inputs. Signal comes in from outside to the 722k, Output of the 722k to the 75ohm coax input on the back of the TV. Tune your TV to ch. 3 or 4. Make sure the switch on the back of the 722k is set to the same.

If you really want to use the RCA colored cables, then you need to buy an RF modulator, which integrates older tv's to newer products. But usually dvd players, not necessarily cable boxes, but it would work if hooked up correctly.

You plug the RCA red, white and yellow from the 722k, into the rf modulator, choose channel 3 or 4 on the modulator

Connect 75ohm coax cable from rf modulator to TV 75ohm coax cable input. Choose channel 3 or 4 on the TV.

Hope this helps.

No color output from philips 751/171 dvd player

Hello.

The RF modulator sends on a certain frequernzy(Channel) usally around channel 36 on UHF. If there is a adjustmen screw on it try and turn it util the picture disapears and then search for it on the tv again just to make sure nothing else is interfearing on the channel the RF modulator is sending on now.

An alternative if there is no adjustment on your RF modulator would be to change the frequenzy on your VCR or other devices attached to your TV that might send on the same frequenzy as your RF modulator.

Regards..

Connecting new tv to DRA-685

you can use the headphone jack just get an adaptor to change from the headphone type to RCA type. adjust the volume of the tv to 3/4 of the way to give line level to the stereo, use an aux input on the stereo. if you had a suround sound dolby digital / DTS receiver then use the digital coax out to that type of receiver, but since you have an anolog 2 channel receiver you must use the only anolog source (the headphone).

Magnavox 15" LCD TV

If the LCD only has coax, it will never display a HD picture quality. However, the Comcast HD Box will still display a picture using the coax connection. So, you could watch any HD channel, but the picture quality will not be high definition.

No display

Press the DVD button on the Philips remote. Make sure the yellow part of the RCA cable is plugged into Output/CVBS/Out on the back of the Philips, and that it is plugged into a yellow input of your TV. Change your TV channel to Av1, av2, video 1, video 2, aux, aux 2, or whatever the correct video channel is on your TV. Then press setup - you will get your picture.
In order for the coax connection to work on Ch. 3 of your TV, you will have to get an additional piece of equipment - an RF modulator. It's better just to stick with the RCA red, yellow, white cables.
