Uploading pics is crashing my computer

I have Vista, and have uploaded several times w/o incident, except for I noticed it would 'forget' some pics, so now I upload manually and don't delete as I upload. I would say it is about the tenth time I have uploaded, and now four times in a row this has happened. I have had a few cameras, and none have ever crashed my computer. It happens before the 50% mark. This camera was new at Christmas. Thanks!!

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

SOURCE: uploading pics to mac from SD card in camera

Have you tried using an external card reader?

They look similar to this at Wal-Mart:

I own a mac and always use an external usb card reader to download my pics and it works great. Also, I know that you need to get your pics off first, but you may need to reformat you card at some point so that it will read faster and work quicker in your camera.

For your software issue, have you tried download the software from kodak's website? The program shouldn't cause your apple to crash. I would try re-installing it from there website.

SOURCE: trouble uploading "duplicate" pictures

I've just found a fix for this problem after fighting it myself for a week. Don't use the transfer window that Easyshare gives you when you connect your camera (or which is also available under the tools/cameras/viewers dropdown menu).

Cancel this window if it comes up. Then select "add pictures" from the file dropdown menu (as if you were going to add pictures from your hard-drive to the easyshare gallery). The camera will appear in the folder list. Open the m1063 folder, select the pictures you want (or select all) then click the "add pictures" button.

SOURCE: some pics won't upload

Hello
I'm not a fan of EasyShare I had a 753 it never did recognize.Try uploading using your computer software. When easyshare asks what to do just close or cancel it.If your computer finds your camera hardware and asks what you would like to do choose copy to folder.Copy them to a folder you will be able to find.If you get them that far you can import to EasyShare later. Another thing you may check is if the pictures which aren't being uploaded happen to be locked in your Favorites folder.

It's possible for images to contain a virus these days but if "you" are shooting them, it's unlikely the camera. It "might" be the software you are using to get the images onto your PC. If you are using Vista, try the built in downloader.

This is not a solution, but how did you get your pictures onto Windows Vista because I've been trying to look for a solution and since you said you had some success, I could really use your help.

My Pictures glitch

you have more than enough hardware setup to enjoy your pictures... maybe your camera is going to sleep mode during transfer? check your battery and make sure your camera can sustain the time to transfer all your picture from cam to computer.

don't upload directly from camera... save the images in your pc first then upload from your pc.

depending on needs... if you just want to show pictures online, not for printing... i would suggest to create a duplicate and resize the duplicate image so that you have smaller files during upload... this will speed up the speed significantly.

Don't have a disc!!!

Greetings 0918,

There are several options to connect your digital camera to your computer to upload your pictures. One method is to connect your camera using the supplied USB cable. Most operating systems will have a built in photo program to at least import the files to your computer. The other option is to purchase an external card reader. You would hook the card reader up via USB and then insert your memory card into the reader, which prompts uploading of the files to your computer. Most card reader units come with uploading software.

Thank You,

Try setting the router back to it's default settings. It could be that you have blocked some things. Just make sure when you reset it that you don't forget to protect it again with a password
