Our Amana refridgerator does not get cool but the freezer works.

I would think that the slide from the freezer to the fridge is frozen over. You will need to check the top of the fridge to see where the air should be coming in from and see if it is clear or not. If the freezer is working then there is no reason for the fridge not to work also, has to be an air flow problem. Look for ice build up blocking the air.

How should I set the temperature. The refridgerator and freezer is not able to maintain a consistent temperature. What is the correct freezer and top refridgerator setting and how do I know it has accepted...

Basically the thermostat controlls the freezer temperature which turns the compressor on and off.
The refrigerator section receives cold air from the freezer to cool it down.
So when the freezer is off there may not be enough cold air left for the refrigerator.
Fridges can never give you a perfect temperature every time there will always be a drift one way or another.
Once you reset the temperature the numbers or an led should blink at you to confirm the changes you made

Cooling Problem with Amana Fridge/Freezer model ARS2663AC

Sounds like a defrost problem. Check to see if there is any frost buildup in the back wall of the freezer. If so, it is not defrosting as it should.
  • possible causes:
  1. bad defrost timer
  2. bad defrost heater (in freezer)
  3. bad thermo switch in freezer
If you don’t know what these are then unplug the machine and let the ice melt in the freezer overnight with the door open. Then try it the next day, if is cooling fine then you need to have a service person replace one of the above items.

Kenmore Elite bottom freezer refridgerator

I just went through this with my refridgerator and actually posted one of the questions. Here is what I found ........

In the freezer compartment behind the panel there is an evaporator fan which pulls cold air from the freezer and pushes it up into the refrridgerator compartment. If the fan is not working it is one of three things.. 1) there is so much frost in the fan area the fan blade is stopped and cannot push the cold air into the refridgerator compartment or the air channel is blocked. 2) there is no electricity going to the fan (usually tied to the door switch of the refirdgerator compartment, and 3) the motor is dead and will have to be replaced.

Solution to #1 - defrost but there is another problem in the "frost-free" part of the system which must be addressed or the frost will return and it will happen again in the future.

Solution #2 - check to see there is power to the fan. (most are 110VAC but some are 100VDC. Use a meter and check)

Solution #3 - If there is power, the motor is dead. Replace the motor. Be aware that AC and DC motors are different and replace per manufacture's specifications.
