To narrow down the problem list, open windows explorer and look for the drive letter for the DVD. Then right mouse click it and select EXPLORE. If nothing there and other DVD discs tried with same results, then a possible DVD hardware failure. This can happen even though a CD will exhibit no problems.

Description of Code 10-related errors that Device Manager generates in Windows-based computers
Try this - Control Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click the device - Driver's Tab - then RIGHT CLICK the drive - UNINSTALL - REBOOT
this will refresh the default driver stack.
if this not work, replace the device with a new one.
You need atleast a DVD-ROM drive. You can get a drive that burns DVD+r,-r,+rw,-rw. Either will be fine to play dvds. You can try newegg.com,tigerdirect.com,directron.com,geeks.com.
Laptop Optiarc DVD RW AD 7530 B is not reading CD or DVD media.
1.DVD icon displayed in My Computer. 2.When I insert DVD or Cd in the drive,Green light flashes and tries to read the nedia and goes off within few seconds. 3.DVD drive in My Computer when clicked shows empty folder 4.Uninstalled DVD drivers in Device Manager and let windows find it on reboot 5.Issue still persists. 6.Right now external DVD RW works perfect.
According to the ACER Aspire 6920 specs, it does not have a Blue-ray player only DVD CD R/W drive. Therefore it cannot play blue-ray movie disks.
The specs of the DVD drive are as follows :- Optical Storage
TypeDVD±RW (±R DL) / DVD-RAM - Integrated
CD / DVD read speed24x (CD) / 8x (DVD±R) / 6x (DVD±R DL)
CD / DVD write speed16x (CD) / 8x (DVD±R) / 4x (DVD±R DL)
CD / DVD rewrite speed16x (CD) / 6x (DVD-RW) / 8x (DVD+RW) / 5x (DVD-RAM)
Go into my computer and see if the dvd-rw is being recognized in there, It should be either the d: or e: drive.
If it is in there then try different disks like music cd's, game cd's movie dvds and see if it can read them and show information for them. If it can read some disks but not others then try cleaning the laser with a slightly damp q-tip with glass cleaner and then dry it off with another dry q-tip.
If it can read them all then problem solved, if it can only read some cd's or none of them then you have a bad laser and you will need to get the dvd-rw replaced.
the combo drive you listed above is a cd-rw/ DVD-ROM....meaning that it will play and burn cd, cd-r, and cd-rw disks. the dvd rom will only be able to play dvd-rom and dvd-r disks providing they are in the proper format. check that the disk in question is not a dvd-rw or (+2) disk. the drive will not recognize that a disk is in the drive if the disk isnt compatable. try a dvd movie, if that works then a dvd-r, if that works then try a dvd-rw +1. if the last option doesnt work then you will have to stick with the dvd-rom and dvd-r, or purchase a dvd-rw drive to install.
You may have what is called a combo drive...it can play and burn cds but can only play dvds, not burn them. Look at the face plate on the drive and see what is written on it. If it has the following: Recordable Drive = CD Burner DVD = DVD Player RW & DVD = DVD Burner
If recordable drive and DVD is on the drive but no RW, chances are its a combo drive. Keep us posted.
Yes does not read DVD-R because if your LS50 Labeled like this (DVD/CD-RW) means that can read only all DVD Disc and cannot write on DVD blank only CD blank.
You can burn only on the blank CD-RW or any blank CD.
please try to restart your computer while the dvd is still in the drive. this usually happens if your drive may have some accumulated dust for it will select only a few dvd to read.
