Question about Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-F717 Digital Camera
Hi, I have owned a DSC F717 camera since March 2003. I have been very pleased with the camera and has functioned perfectly until I switched it on today. The LCD screen & viewfinder display data OK and the laser, speed, aperture, settings etc all appear to work but no image is displayed. The lower 1/3rd portion of screen briefly flashes a dark red/orange colour when camera is switched on. Is this a CCD imager problem ? Reading about other users problems with this camera implies there has bee a CCD issue which Sony have recalled/replaced. I paid £744 for the camera and consider just over 4 years use to be a very expensive ownership ! ! Is the problem fixable by Sony, if so who do I contact ? Many thanks
Yess CCD problem- contact Sony they will either replace or offer a discount on a new model as this is some years old now.

Usually answered in minutes!
Yes, it was the CCD.
I contacted Sony Customer Services and they confirmed it probably was the Imager ( I2 fault code )and suggested return to Central Servive for investigation.
I sent the camera on the 10th Sept and it has been returned today 20th Sept with replaced CCD and fully working to spec FREE OF CHARGE.
WELL DONE SONY & than kyou !
Its good to have something positive to report these days !
Sorry about the typing errors in the above !!
I have been using my DSC-717 since 2000 and have had NO problems until today. I charged it and went to use it and everything is black. The images for all the icons are showing and the shutter is working as well as the flash but no picture. I have looked on the sony website but it all appears to show nothing. Is it because of the age of the camera? Or do they still offer a fix to the problem?
