You know I have the same problem so have taken into sony service centre. The lady was not surprised and said ok a technician will contact you. Estimated cost 80 singapore dollars repair. This morning I have a call from the centre saying the whole lens needs replacing due to being dropped. I said excise me but the camera has not been dropped and as I am a photographer and it is kept in the same conditions as all my SLR cameras in dehumidifiers etc I am very surprised at the comment. He insisted that the problem was the lens mechanism and would be 410 singapore dollars to repair!! I have just started chcking around as this seesm to be a real common problem. It is interesting to note that Sony have discontinued thsi model with no replacement. It was on the market just over 1 year which might indicate THEY know there is a problem. It seems that it happens just after you have had it a year and therefore out of warranty! You know I have the same problem so have taken into sony service centre. Had the same problem, tried all solutions suggested on this website, AND it STILL won't work! It just keeps fluttering, and it doesn't come out far enough for me to grab ahoId of it. I was told $251 to fix it. I have had the camera only year. Had the same problem, tried all solutions suggested on this website, AND it STILL won't work! Thank you ppcjay for the advice...it worked like a charm!
Pulled out the lens on the first go. I turned off the camera and then when I turned the power up again...disco!!
Now if only Sony would fess up to this issue. I mean without any extended warranty the best advice I could get was to buy a new camera...and I can tell you it wouldn't have been a Sony!
Ok guys, I was getting the same "Access" black screen on my dcsn2. I would turn it on and the lens would pop in and out I would get the black screen with the "Access" on it. What worked for me was the following:
As the lens came out i grabbed and pulled while it was fully extended
The "Access" screen disappeared and my camera was back to normal.
hope this works for u guys! :-)

More than likely the camera has an internal problem in the power supply section. There is an electronic switching circuit that switches between the battery input and the DC input coming from the AC adapter. Your camera requires professional servicing. One such place is AVRepair.com Home Services Consumer Camcorder Sony
It sounds like a problem with the CCD imaging sensor itself. Most likely you will want to consider replacing the camera. You do have the option to contact sony and get an estimate. You can also contact/send it to a independent camera repair company and they commonly offer free estimates. Here is sony's contact info: https://eservice.sony.com/webrma/web/index.do
if the initialize and calibration settings cannot be accessed if the touch screen is not responding, try to power reset the camera: turn cam off, remove the battery, make sure the cam is not connected to an optional ac adaptor, set mode switch to play, press and hold down the power button for a minute, let go and turn cam mode back to off, reinsert battery and turn cam on. if touch screen is still not working, unit may require service. hope this helps. thanks:)
Hi, Part number of lcd for Sony DSC-N2 is as follows: A1151474A... TP BLOCK ASSY (30STGU05) (including LCD) Available in Sony Part Store for $192 Thanks.
I just got a fuji digital camera. I was taking pictures and it said memory full and then the lcd screen went dark gray with a green dot in the middle. I then opened the memory card and installed it. I can still take pictures and see thru the focus lens but not the lcd screen.????? pls. help
Can you see Shadow images[ indicating back light failure] or Nothing at all[ Indication main circuit board or connector problem
If you are still in warranty then send it back to seller.
You could try gently squeezing the case below the screen to see if there is a chance of a re connection. Also check out Sony support in case there is an issue with that model Failing that it is a repair job Prbablynearly as expensive as simply junking it and start over

Sometime the picture has a part of the previous picture on the bottom.
About a 1/4 to 3/8 inch overlap.
