Fridge stopped working light on motor not running

Robert,
Need more info. I am unaware of a "light on the motor". There are three motors normally in a refrigeration system. The inside Evaporator fan motor that circulates air across the evaporator coil inside the box, the Condenser fan motor near the compressor that cools the freon after compression, and the compressor itself. Normally none of these have a light. If you are referring to the light inside the box that turns on with opening the door AND the frig is not cooling, we must go to the very start. 1. Verify power at outlet.
2. Do you see (or inside the box- hear) the two fans running. 3. Is the compressor smoothly vibrating?

Rangemaster sxs cream . Why is my fridge and freezer the same temp ???? If anybody could give me an answer or solution.

Jason,
MOST refrigerators get there cold from the freezer side and circulate it via a fan that's also normally inside the freezer. There are three motors normally in a refrigeration system. The inside Evaporator fan motor that circulates air across the evaporator coil inside the box, the Condenser fan motor near the compressor that cools the freon after compression, and the compressor itself. If you open the doors (and sometimes you may have to hold in the door switches) do you hear a fan running? If not you could have a couple things going on: 1. The fan(s) has failed. 2. The freezer Evap coil may of iced over and the fan too is frozen stopped. 3. Your condensing unit:(compressor, condenser fan, condenser coils) has a problem.
It is important to know if the compressor itself is running. If there is a loose connection to the compressor via the start/over load relay (normally attaches directly onto the compressor), or if the start/over load otself is bad the compressor will not run. Best way to tell is via gauges but I doubt your frig has ports. Check to see if your compressor is really hot. Could be bad start/over load relay or bad compressor. Try unplugging your frig for say 30 min then, with your hand on top of a cool compressor, plug the frig back in and see if compressor smoothly vibrates for at least 5 min without becoming very hot or shutting off even though fan continues to run. The fact your fan is running TYPICALLY means the thermostat is calling for lower temps and the fan/compressor kick in together.

The fan has a limit control wired in series that shuts the fan down until the coil temperature reaches 25*F. this prevents the fan from blowing warm around after defrost.
There is also a switch which is placed for the door to close. Either one may be defective.
Worst case is the freezer is not pulling down temperature wise.

Could be the fan blade is the issue for vibration. Perhaps the blade was bent or somewhat damaged during failures or during the fan motor replacement process.

Might try replacing the blade. Be sure to install the correct blade. Pitch, number of blades as was on the original unit. If blade was replaced previously, the new blade may be pitched or sized incorrectly.

The draft inducer makes a vibrating noise at the beginning of the heating cycle and at the end.

Either you have moisture in the fan housing or the fan blade lost a counterweight. Pull off the lower hose going to your condensate drain and check for moisture. If you find none, you will need to replace the inducer fan assembly.

if you are sure that the compressor is running and there is no cooling, then you could have a leak in the system and there nothing you can do about it. you should ask a professional to repair the leak and recharge the system .

i ask if you are sure because you might think of the vibration of the condenser fan motor if there is as the vibration of the compressor. they are two different motor running at the same time.

It sounds like your condenser fan motor may be locked up or the capacitor that helps give the condenser fan motor a kick to get it started may be defective. Try turning your system on and using a long screwdriver try to push the fan blade on the condenser fan motor to see if it will run normally if you give it the starting boost it needs. If it does run at full speed and doesn't over heat or start and then slow down then you probably only need to replace a simple 10-12$ capacitor. If it barely turns, makes an odd humming sound or overheats etc. then you will have to replace the condenser fan motor. This is assuming that the outdoor condenser has the 220v supplied and the 24v supplied to the compressor relay, that the compressor relay is engaged and suppling 220v to the condenser fan motor.
