I had the TV on and it seems the red color started arcing up in the middle and down on the left and right. I wasn't changing channels or anything. Any way of adjusting it? I know how to get the front panel off already if that helps you when you explain your diagnosis.

Re: Red in the shape of a rainbow
I have seen this before check your TV to see if it uses the STK-392-110 3 channel convergence module. If it does you may have to replace them (there are two of them). You may read something about replacing them with the STK392-150s but don't do it since the replacement requires the changing of the bias resistors, and you need to know ecactly what you are doing. You will need to desolder the the old modules and solder in the new ones (new 110s not 150s). I would advise you to get a schematic and check the voltages on the chips before changing them just to make sure they are bad.

1) Whenever a rear projection TV has convergence issues, the
fix involves replacement of both IC's = STK392-110.......sub to
STK394-160E for improved durability...........
2) Soldering only is a temporary "fix" at best
3) Do not allow generic IC's, OEM quality or better = I use
Hitachi brand, made by Sanyo, with no callbacks....
4) Skill level needed = above average,....needs chassis pull...T.
ok well "tube" tellys as they are called use an electro magnet to keep the picture stable and colours correct its called gaussing now if you have a speaker or something magnetic nearby it will stuff up the colors but only normally producing colors like purple, green, or white
if you have colors across the screen (that aren't caused by magnetic force) then you need to take it to a repairer or decide wether or not to buy a new one this issue can turn out to be quite hard to fix and can be expensive the different colored electron guns may be burning or burnt out causing pale color or it could be as simple as a power transistor in the H.V supply has shorted out..and causing power issues to the tube.
hope this helps,ben
it could be that the tv convergence circuit is going bad. One shure way of finding out is to go to the tv feature menu(picture, audio etc.) and select the customer convergence setting, you should get a cross hair pattern(cross in middle of screen). that cross should be white and by aligning the red or blue colors they should move left, right, up or down
You have a Convergence problem. Most likely the STK392-120"s are bad and possibly a few resistors. Not something you should attempt if you've never done one. I would recommend calling a service co. in to repair it.
you have a shorted green CRT that is affecting the other crts the short is internat to the crt that leaves what is called retrace lines. if the set is more than three years old then replace all three guns.
