I have plugged my unit in to charge, the yellow light comes on indicating that it has been plugged in and that it is charging, then when I have let it charge sufficiently (overnight) I tried to turn it on and to my dismay, it wont turn on. There is no sound coming from it, and I know it's not a fuse because then there would be no lights coming at all when plugged in, and I'm thinking it can't be a power supply problem because wouldn't a power supply cause the light to not come on also?
I know it can't be the LCD because at least I would hear the chimes when turned on, so what is the issue?
my daughter ds lite will not power on, the yellow/orange charge light comes on for half a second and then goes off, it will not charge. I am reading about the fuses in a lot of posts, how can I access them? can I buy them? if so where? my daughter ds lite will not power on, the yellow/orange charge light comes on for half a second and then goes off, it will not charge. Find a friend that has a DS and try using their battery and charger to troubleshoot your hardware. If your battery and charger work with another DS, then you may have a problem with your DS motherboard.

Does the yellow light come on when charging? Could be that the fuse for the charging circuit has gone, or on of the screens has been damaged. If it's only 4 months old and not been dropped etc, send it back to Nintendo I'd have thought.
You should try charging the DS system if the light is red. Make sure both the outlet you plug the DS into, the charger, and the DS charging port are not damaged. If this does not work, try visiting this website: http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/index.jsp or calling Nintendo Customer Service at 1-800-255-3700.
well, here are some ideas as to why it might be like that...
1. Your battery is old, like how cell phone batteries die quicker the longer you use them, your ds may be the same way...
2. You have dropped your ds (have you in those 3 months of it sitting around?) and now the battery is loose or broken.
3. Just try to plug your ds charger into your ds, and see what happens. This should be the method that works, if your ds won't turn on, its because the batteries probably dead, just plug it into a wall outlet and see what happens...
Hope this helps you get started, GOOD LUCK! :-)
Generally speaking electronic devices display some sort of battery charge level indicator and even if they're charged will not be harmed if they remain on the power supply cable for longer periods of time. The charge time is 3 hours roughly with the unit turned off.
Ensure that you are properly recharging the battery.
1. Insert the small end of the adapter into the external extension connector (labeled "5.2V=IN") on the back of the Nintendo DS Lite, just next to the SLOT 1 Game Card opening.
2. Swing the prongs on the AC adapter until they lock into place, then insert it into a standard (120 volt) outlet.
The plug should be mounted vertically or on a floor outlet (such as a power strip).
3. Once the adapter is properly inserted, the unit will begin to charge (the orange charging light will display).
4. Once the DS Lite is fully charged, the orange charge light will go off.
Check the AC Adapter for damage (such as bent prongs or split wires). If you see damage to the AC Adapter, purchase a replacement from NintendosOnline Store.
Try plugging the AC Adapter into another wall outlet. Its possible the outlet is not working properly and has not been charging the Nintendo DS Lite.
If you are unable to get power to your Nintendo DS Lite, despite trying to properly recharge the unit, then your system will need to be repaired.
Nintendo offers convenient repairs, fast turnaround times and, for all systems repaired, a new one-year manufacturer's warranty.
When you first get the DS it will have a bit if charge on it but only a few hours worth. When the DS charges it usally comes up with a orange/red ish light then that goes out about a few hours later when its charged. ad if you want to chek if it is charging correcly turn the DS on whilst it is charging and the little battery simble in the top right corner should show the battery carging.

my ds lite is charging for a second and then the red light will turn off.. i think it is in the battery, not on the charger
