Question about Linksys Wireless-N WRT150N Router

1 Answer

Connection Not Consistent

I purchased the router yesterday. Hooked it up today. Then Restarted my computer, and now have to do the Whole set up thing again just to get wireless. I have to walk across the house with my laptop, hook up a wire to it from the router, run the set up wizard, get the connection I need, then go back across the house to my room. Now im hoping I dont have to restart the computer again. Everytime I turn off the laptop, I can no longer access the internet.

Thanks, That was one of the problems, also the security had been enabled letting one computer in an locking the other out. We turned off the security logged in and then turned it back on, and everything has been good ever since. Thanks.

You shouldn't have to run the setup wizard to reconnect. It sounds like you just haven't configured it to auto-connect to that wireless connection. Right click on My Network Places and select Properties. Right click on your Wireless LAN connection, and tell it to connect. You should be able to go through those settings and tell it to auto-connect to your router as well.

Cannot connect to internet today. Yesterday all was well.

If the modem works and a desktop pc works through the Ethernet port of the router, then try plugging the pc laptop into the same Ethernet port using the same cable as the desktop. Most laptops have an Ethernet port.

If this works, then the problem is the wireless access?

Check you still have the wireless set-up on the pc laptop, if not re-install it.

the SSID is the name of your wireless network. you may need to set up your wireless connection again since you got a new router. It may be trying to use the old connection, which will not work.

Sounds like a problem with your cable connection. Check your coaxial cable, and the splitter from where the cable enters your home. The tech will use a signal meter to measure the quality of your cable, and then replace the wiring if necessary.

Trouble connecting netgear wireless router to rca modem DCM425

First try connection the Yellow ethernet cable from the rca modem to your computer's network connection. If you get a connection this way, then your modem will work with a ethernet cable. If not, then call Comcast for help. The modem ethernet out to computer port must be connected to the wan line of the router. Then you can connect an ethernet cable from your computer network connection to one of the 4 ports of the router. For wireless connections you must set up the router and wireless adaptor with the same settings to connect. Follow the routers directions.
