I purchased the router yesterday.
Hooked it up today.
Then Restarted my computer, and now have to do the Whole set up thing again just to get wireless.
I have to walk across the house with my laptop, hook up a wire to it from the router, run the set up wizard, get the connection I need, then go back across the house to my room. Now im hoping I dont have to restart the computer again.
Everytime I turn off the laptop, I can no longer access the internet.
Thanks, That was one of the problems, also the security had been enabled letting one computer in an locking the other out. We turned off the security logged in and then turned it back on, and everything has been good ever since. You shouldn't have to run the setup wizard to reconnect. It sounds like you just haven't configured it to auto-connect to that wireless connection. Right click on My Network Places and select Properties. Right click on your Wireless LAN connection, and tell it to connect. You should be able to go through those settings and tell it to auto-connect to your router as well.

If the modem works and a desktop pc works through the Ethernet port of the router, then try plugging the pc laptop into the same Ethernet port using the same cable as the desktop. Most laptops have an Ethernet port.
If this works, then the problem is the wireless access?
Check you still have the wireless set-up on the pc laptop, if not re-install it.
the SSID is the name of your wireless network. you may need to set up your wireless connection again since you got a new router. It may be trying to use the old connection, which will not work.

You should get output somewhat like: Default Gateway .... 192.168.123.456
if you have a connection between your router and your computer.
If you have that connection, you should be able to upload new firmware from your computer to the router.
Sounds like a problem with your cable connection. Check your coaxial cable, and the splitter from where the cable enters your home. The tech will use a signal meter to measure the quality of your cable, and then replace the wiring if necessary.
hi, try to connect that particular computers directly to the router using the ethernet cable, monior the internet connection,if l the internet connection is consistent, theres a possiblity that you need to update the driver for your wireless adapter, try to uninstall and reinstall it,but if the internet connection is still dropping off, contact verizon and tel them that you are having an intermittent connection to the internet, have them check the dsl line and if possible, ask for a higher tech support to do a test assist for the connection...
You have to set seting from routers menu. To use it hold 15 second
router restart button, that restore factory setings, then go browser http://192.168.1.1/ , and use username "admin" and password "admin" in default. There you can set setting by your connection.
First try connection the Yellow ethernet cable from the rca modem to your computer's network connection. If you get a connection this way, then your modem will work with a ethernet cable. If not, then call Comcast for help. The modem ethernet out to computer port must be connected to the wan line of the router. Then you can connect an ethernet cable from your computer network connection to one of the 4 ports of the router. For wireless connections you must set up the router and wireless adaptor with the same settings to connect. Follow the routers directions.
Good Luck
Hii
Just do a powerrecycle for one minute - e.g trun off router then turn off modem - wait for 1 minute then turn ON modem first wait for lights to get stabled , then turn on your wirless router -- i am t will work for you
Are you trying to set up router ? You can set up your router manually, without the CD. Make sure that your computer is able to go online directly through the modem. If your computer is able to go online through the modem, that means the modem is working fine. You will need to connect the computer to the router and the modem to the router. open the set up page of the router and change the settings of the router according to the ISP.
