I had the same problem.
The "Network Controller" in my case had to do with the wireless network driver on my 450ROG.
None of the drivers that are available for 450ROG on the Gateway Support site worked correctly.
Here's what I did to solve the problem:
1. Flip the computer over.
2. On the back, you may see a little module that says "Fitted with Intel WM3B2100 802.11b". That's the built-in wireless network card (had no idea this computer had one, I inherited it).
3. Go to the Intel support site:
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/
4. Do a search for the "WM3B2100" driver.
5. Download and install the driver.
Fixed it for me!
