Ellure Plus buttonhole disaster. The attachment doesn't work properly with thick materials. I used a medium to heavy weight wool (it was also faced with this material) and just a disaster! Help!

Unfortunately, you are stuck with having to fix what you have. Perhaps handstitching the buttonholes with heavy thread will at least make it acceptable. In the future, be sure to always test the exact same set up using scrap material before trying it on your project.

Removing Paint From Leaded Windows.

Hi phil, i think your lead is shiny because you have taken off some oxcidation when you were preping your windows. Im quite sure that in a month or so your lead will be the same dark gray color your use to seeing. If you have some old fishing weights, you will notice the same issue, take a wire brush to it and looks brand new, in a couple weeks it oxcidates and dark gray it is again. Hope that helps.

Changed battery still wont start. Is there a override button to reset security settings?

By the looks of it, some of the newer ones use ungodly complicated procedures to do that. First things first. I would go out, take some steel wool/sandpaper, and clean the terminals to bright and shiny. After that, plug them in, let the vehicle sit for 10 minutes. Put the key in, turn it to "on", let it sit. See if it will start. Failing that, here is an E-how for a 2000 model version, I hope it would apply!

Changed battery and now the starter just clicks. is it the starter or some else

You might try and make sure the new battery is completely charged, and check the terminals, make sure they are shiny, if not, take some sandpaper/steel wool, and get them shiny!

Control says FF?

What control, brand, model # etc.? An educated guess would be that you have a gas forced air system. FF would typically mean Flame Failure. Pull flame sensor, clean rod with steel wool until shiny again and reinstall. Your flame sensor will have one wire going to it. Located at the opposite side from the igniter. It will have a ceramic base with stainless steel probe protruding into the flame. Hope my guess helps.

Soldering gun maintenance

Start with a clean soldering tip. If it's a new tip, use sandpaper or steel wool so the metal shines. With an old tip, you may need to use a file to remove badly oxidized areas. Once the tip is clean and shiny, press the soldering gun trigger to high and as soon as it's hot, apply a coating of solder to the tip. Use a rag to spread the solder evenly over the tip. The materials to be joined must be clean, dry, and free of grease and oil. Use a wire brush or fine sandpaper to get the surfaces clean and shiny. Make a good mechanical joint. Crimp terminals with a crimping tool or pliers, and twist wires together tightly.
