I just bought this thing and when I unpacked the unit, and plugged it in, it powered up fine. However when I connected my DirectTV I could get no picture. While I was trying to figure that out, the TV went off and won't power up.

There are multiple part numbers for a Main board for this tv. The best thing to do if its under warranty is to contact LG have it serviced through them. If this is not an option for you then you have a couple choices.
1. Have a repair shop fix it for you. (EXPENSIVE0
2. Sell it for parts
3. Open it up and try to identify the problem yourself and save yourself a few hundred by fixing it yourself.
I personally would fix it myself. Send me a description of what your issues are with this tv and I will let you know what might fix it.
Oh and the best way to get the PN for your main board is to look inside and get it off the board in your tv.

We have the same problem with this TV. This is the second one we've had, the first one was taken back and replaced but the new one has developed the same problem. The TV works for a few weeks then one day when I turn it on the LED on the front turns green and the backlight comes on but there's no picture or sound. I am unable to access any of the menus or switch between inputs, it's just a blank screen. Have already tried the following:
Removing all cables and reconnecting power only 10 minutes later.
Attempting to switch between inputs, but there's no display to confirm what's happening.
Power and ariel attached only.
Nothing has helped so far. It's still under warranty so I'll be trying to get a refund on this. Is there something I'm missing, perhaps a way to reset the system?
have a similiar problem. my tv comes on but i can't adjust the controls by remote or tv. menu comes on screen by itself along with other other menu functions. my stay on a few minutes or a few seconds. can't figure this thing out.
can any body help me?
I contacted the store where we bought the TV and they picked it up and took it to an authorized LG repair shop. As it turns out, the mainboard needed to be replaced. We now have the TV back and it is working great.
TV worked great from March when it was bought till the end of September, then one day screen died, green light was still on but could not get any image. Sent it to the authorized repair shop, they replaced main board. Just came home and plugged it in...not even 20 minutes and it's out again...so back to the shop.
