Question about LG WM-2277HW Front Load Washer

1 Answer

Soap We recently purchased our first front loader washer, and we have great difficulty with soap and suds. We have exclusively used HE detergents at amounts less than recommended by the manufacturers. For many loads we still see some foam and bubbles during multiple rinse cycles, and sometimes it seems impossible to get rid of them. If we don't add enough soap to very dirty loads, we don't see the foam and bubbles, and the clothes do not come out smelling clean. For any load there seems to be a very specific amount of soap required to get the clothes clean and have a clear final rinse (no bubbles or foam). Should one expect a clear final rinse? Are there any tricks to figure out how much soap should be added? How do you know when you have gotten all the soap out? Thanks for helping us novices.

So far you have told us general information that does not address the specific issues in our posting. We have been doing many extra rinses, and have probably used more water than a conventional machine to see a clear final rinse as the clothes are tumbled in the washer. We had hoped that an "expert" would be able to tell us if the small amount of residual bubbles we see is normal for a rinse or a sign of residual soap in the clothes or an indication of a malfunction in the machine.

How much HE detergent is used can vary from household to household, depending on such factors as water softness level, soil level of clothing, load size, etc. Because excessive suds can cause build up in the machine, leading to decreased cleaning performance, odor and damage to parts, reduce the amount of detergent if sudsing occurs. How do you know when you have gotten all the soap out? Try extra rinse and make use of custom program to perform additional rinse.

Maytag 3000series front loader model number mhwe300vf00 on the display it says sud what does that mean

Being a high efficiency washer, this model uses less water. Not all the soap suds have not been rinsed away. Most likely you are using the wrong detergent. Use detergent with the he label on it.

It flash's SUDs during the cycle.what does it mean and what can i do to stop it from doing it

The SUD message indicates the control or pressure switch senses suds in the water. Run the machine empty with hot water only to clear any soap residue out of the machine. Cut back on the amount of soap used and use only HE detergent in the machine.

When in wash it dosent remove all soap powder from clothes

I don't know how you are administering the soap powder to the machine..but for one, its recommended that you use detergent thats made exclusively for the front loader washer, usually says "he" on the front of the LIQUID detergent, they recommend that you use liquid detergent on top of that, BUT if you have to use regular powder detergent it must be put inside the tub and NOT the pull out detergent drawer. The reason why they want you to use liquid is because the powder detergent is not concentrated and when you use it, it lathers up alot and its harder for the front loader machine to clean out the clothes and I was told that they (sales agents) have heard of soap suds and bubble floods coming from the machine due to either using the powder detergent or using too much. Hope that this helps!!

Can you use regular detergent with front loader washers??

All manufactures suggest using a high efficiecy detergent. They are specially formulated to keep the suds level low and work well with the low water levels of a front loader. Boxes are marked with an HE on them letting you know they are for high effiency machines. Regular detergents were designed for washers that use many gallons of water.

Do Frigidaire Front Load Washers require H&E detergents?

The answer is YES. Nearly all front loader washers built for consumers are rated as high efficiency because of the small amount of water and electricity they use. This small amount of water, coupled with a wash tub that does not agitate continously, followed by a high speed final spin of 1200 rpms or higher, all equate to an overall energy savings as compared to a conventional top loader. Regular detergent is formulated to be used in a wash tub with a 35 gallon capacity. So, if you use that same detergent in a wash tub that uses 5 to 7 gallons of water (such as yours), you are in effect putting about 5 times the concentration in the washer. This can lead to soap scum build up which causes odors, soap deposits that remain in your clothing and can cause skin irritation, "SUDS" errors that stop the wash program due to too much suds in the wash tub, and premature wear on the drain pump motor and seals. In fact, most front loaders will have a disclaimer added in the owner';s manual that explains this. Most manufacturers will also void the warranty if it is discovered you are using improper detergent. Use HE detergent and pay attention to the label. Some of them are double (2X) and triple (3X) concentrated. I hope this helps you.

Mold and mildew in door deal of LG front loader WM

Barb,

This is a problem with all front loaders. We have used those cleaning tablets in a regular hot cycle per the directions on the box. You can also try placing 1 cup of crystal dishwashing detergent in the tub and fill the soap dispenser with bleach and run a quick cycle full hot.

Odors on the clothes after washing in Maytag front loader

The brand of your front loader is not that material on this issue. What is happening is that your old top load washer may have used as much as 45 gallons of water per cycle, while some front loaders use as little as 12. Because of the low water use, you must cut back on the additives you are using. Use only 1 tablespoon of HE detergent (even less if 2x or 3x detergent) per load. If you use fabric softener, use only 1 teaspoon per load. Odor on clothes after wash is indicating that the detergent and or softener has not been fully rinsed out. If you throw a load of washed towels into your machine and start a cycle without any soap, then stop the cycle, you should not see any suds. If you do, there is obviously soap left in the clothes. With bath towels, the towels are used to absorb clean water off a clean body. They do not need soap when you wash them, and never use fabric softener on towels.

Usage of HE detergents

The best he soap I have seen yet is all, he is high effieciency low suds soap. The rule of thumb for liquid he soap is 2 Tbl for every 1 Tbl of softener. Powder can be used but is not good on pumps and build up in tubs. If you have a water softener you can use 25% less soap. Still with powder you need about a 1/4 cup per load to equal a 2 Tbl liquid variety. Suds damage pump impellers, seals and hoses from expansion and that is it on the reason "why to use he".
