Freezer too cold, fridge to warm

We had a repair man come out and he said the new whirlpool side by side fridge we bought has issues. The freezer control is really the fridge control, and the fridge control is really the freezer control. The controls for the temps are backwards too. Up means down and down means up. We have only had it for a week! I want my money back. This is the most insame fridge I have ever had!

Dec 2008...In DFW TX area and was just told same thing by repairman, which Whirlpool denies ever having an issue with...any assistance ou can offer with how your situation was resolved would be appreciated.

Generally speaking, the refrigerator side cools off of the freezer side operation. What makes this possible is what is known as an evaporator fan located on the freezer side behind the panels. If the fan is not running then the cold air is not being transferred to the refrigerator side.

A condenser fan motor (the one beside compressor) that has failed will cause that middle post to get very warm.

Fridge side works, but the freezer doesn't

Hi, there is a common fault with these side by side models, the electronics fail in many ways. The first sign of failure is either due to the compressor not working or the 'evaporator' (the cold bit) ices up and air can't pass through it to cool the freezer and fridge.
You can buy a kit to repair the boards for about £30 on ebay
Look for Whirlpool repair
An engineer would charge £200 +

Your fan in the freezer is wearing out. When your food in the freezer is blocking the air, the motor is working too hard. After years of using, it needs to be replaced. Get a repair man in to replace with a new parts. My Fridge/Freezer was totally broken and I found this out because the ice was melting. It got fixed and now no problem.

Fridge wont get cold and freezer gets cold then gets warm

Sounds like to me you have a defrost issue. If your fridge is only 2 months old don't sweat it and call out a Whirlpool warrenty certified tech. to fix the problem. And sorry to say age does not matter with fridges any more. The good ole days of fridges lasting 20 years is over now it's 12 years if your lucky.
