Try pushing the eject button to see if the power button is faulty. If the PS2 is off and you press the eject button, it automatically turns the PS2 on and ejects the DVD tray.

well first of all your only supposed to press it. dont hold down. i dont really know why, but i suppose if anything something having to do with the power cord. proud to be part of your help

Can either be the power button(pretty common issue or a loose connector).Depend what kind of machine you have .PS2 have a common denominator...but actually the machine are different each other.The FAT one and the Slim one are totally different
