Hi.
My remote appears to stop working randomly, yet even with fresh batteries, and aiming at my computer webcam, i can see the infra-red on the remote sending....it is steady white then off every 2 seconds, then back on..is the remote junk or is my reciever bo longer receiving the signal?
Thanks, but i fixed it. According to other forums, the IR reciever on the recievers front panel circuit board has cold breaks in the solder.
You can tell if this is your problem if light tapping on the front panel of the reciever makes the remote control work again.
I resoldered the three contact points on the recievers front panel IR and it works like a charm.....
I have a pic of the cold breaks before i resoldered them.....Thanks, but i fixed it.

I had this problem and clearly saw the three solder joints had the telltail rings as indentified by blade613. Resolder them and so far so good. Thanks a million blade613, I had been trying to solve this problem for a year.

we can check our remote controls the simplest way.. provided you have your cellphone with camera turn it On just like you are to take pictures then aim your remote to the camera press any of the button of the camera then you are suppose to see a light blinking. if there's no light check the battery or replace it with new ones..
Check it with fresh batteries. If batteries are weak, this might happen. If batteries are good, and still it does not give you distance range, the infrared emitting LED inside it is faulty. To replace it, you have to open the remote control. Check this link. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ It has details about how to repair a remote control. Pull up older posts. The fault can also be due to a faulty remote sensor inside the TV too. The sensor can be located just behind the infrared sensor window at the front of the TV. Will look somewhat like this.
* Remove batteries
* Press each button on your remote, twice. (one button at a time). This should discharge any current left in the capacitors.
* Insert fresh batteries.
Just a thought, but maybe even the new batteries aren't making good contact (you have replaced the batteries, right?).
Remove the batteries, using a cotton swab and alchohol, clean the contacts in the remote. Then install fresh batteries.
If that does not remedy the problem, you may be able to locate a used remote for your model. Do a google search for remote control resellers, or check a popular auction site.
Thanks, but i fixed it.
