I have experienced this problem and found that the problem was a defective memory card. You may need to remove the batteries for several minutes to reset the camera.

Although the manuals nothing says about flashing red light on charger, my best guess is the battery is defect.
Try to remove the battery several times and start the charging again and again. But when after a few attempts the LED starts flashing again, you better buy a new battery. When you don't use the camera for a longer period, make it a habit, to charge the battery every 3 months or so.
hi
your camera has flash circuit defective. the red light flashed mean it is trying to charge flash capacitor in its circuitry. it might has flash pcb defective or just fuse brown. you can bring to local repair shop and they would charge around $35 to 75 depend on what they really want to charge.
Thanks and best regard!
The problem you are describing is a problem with one of the chips in the camera that controls image processing. It seems to have failed and needs to be replaced. Following are the instructions to send your camera to Olympus for service.
Olympus will charge a flat rate repair fee for this product if beyond the one year factory warranty or the warranty is voided. The cost is $125 plus your local sales tax. This covers parts and labor, factory cleaning and diagnostic check, 6 month warranty and the cost of shipping the product back to you is all included in that price.
I found you because 10 minutes ago, my camera exhibited the same behavior as all yours. All of a sudden, the red and green lights started blinking on and off and nothing worked. I just tried switching batteries and the camera is working! I am using a couple of RCR-V3 Li-ion rechargeable batteries, which I purchased on Ebay three months ago. Thought I'd pass it on.
devon, nicely summed up ...red light truely indicates that the flash is charging however you couldnt get it to flash becuase the bulb needs to be replaced.

Can you get a memory card reader that works for a Mac?
If so then loading pic's to the 'puter through that route
Flashing red and green lights have a meaning- what does the manual say?[Check the more comprehensive manual on the Software disk]
You could buy[or borrow] another card- nothing wrong with having more that one.
Also try the card in another camera and a fresh card in yours[Take it a photo shop to try this]
