I have a fuji xp60. Just charged the battery. Insert into camera. Screen indicates date is not set. Controls will not allow me to set the date. The last time I had the camera out (May 2013) the screen went fuzzy. I opened the camera, removed the battery, re-insert battery and camera worked fine.

I had a Fuji camera which did similar. It turned out to be a defective component inside the camera. Fuji do a repair service where you contact them for an estimate before repair. If the camera is old, it may not be worth the cost and cheaper to buy a later model. Sorry

SOURCE: Fuji Fine Pix Z5 battery won't charge

I looked up this question with the same problem and while the battery was placed in with the right side in, the three metal tabs weren't on the right side with the three metal chargers- so I had to spin it around the other way...i hope i'm explaining this right...now it's charging! I am so glad. This camera is excellent.

SOURCE: Fuji FinePix S9000 battery change clears date/time.

Hi

I started having a similar problem with my Fuji FinePix F10 after about 3 1/2 years of problem-free use. Another poster had some really helpful advice which I thought I'd pass on. It seems there is an internal battery or capacitor which basically fails after a while, meaning date/time settings etc are lost when the battery is removed. (Some people claim this is a motherboard/chip problem instead - seems to be contentious!) So the camera is faulty, but the problem can be worked around.

The advice I found, which worked for my camera, was this:

- Turn off camera and leave off for approx 15 seconds before opening battery door.
- Change battery quickly (within a few seconds).
- Close battery door and leave camera off for approx 15 secs before turning back on.

This retained all settings when I tested it multiple times. I imagine it might not work if changing over a totally dead battery though.

Hope it helps!

What is the internal battery in Sony HDR-HX9V camera that retains the date, time settings?

I think it is a rechargeable CR2032 that is wired to the board and re charges when the camera is in use.
Some early models had the CR2032 under a clip panel where the main battery is fitted.

Fuji troubleshooting

Doesn't sound like the camera is the problem. It could be the battery or the battery charger, though. Manufacturers do produce bad products sometimes (the battery could have a bad connection in it, or the charger might simply not be trickling power to the batter correctly). When you say you "haven't used it in a while" though, how long do you mean? Most rechargeable batteries do actually lose their ability to hold a charge over time, even if you aren't using them. So even though that battery has only been used a couple times, if it's 2 or 3 years old, it's at the end of its life and likely is dead. The same thing happens to laptop computer batteries, remote controlled cars, cellular phones, etc.

I would suggest checking eBay for a replacement battery. You can very often find a non-name-brand one that works exactly like the Fuji one did (and sometimes even find original Fuji ones for much less than retail as well). In any event, the battery is definitely the first thing I would change out. It is absolutely the most likely culprit of your trouble.

Why do I lose date/time on Fuji FinePix S6500 digital camera when I change batteries

You lose the date/time because the camera has no power to it to keep the settings. Basically don't leave the batteries out if you want it to keep the date/time. On the other hand it will just sit and run the batteries down just sitting there off. It is a bit annoying but that's why. Most cameras store an internal charge so they can keep the date/time but it is not supposed to last very long, it was designed so you could swap out dead batteries without having to reset the time/date every time. If it is happening on simple battery changes it means something may be wrong with the camera.

I have to reset date time etc everytime i turn camera on

If the Date/Time menu appears when the camera power is turned on, the date battery charge is low and the date and time settings have been lost. Please purchase a lithium coin battery (CR1220) and replace it as follows.

1. Confirm that the camera power is turned off.
2. Slide the memory card slot / battery cover lock and open the cover.
3. Hook your nail onto the date battery holder and lightly pull up.
4. Remove the battery holder in the direction indicated by the arrow. a570isbackupbatremove.gif 5. Remove the battery by pulling it up in the direction indicated by the arrow.

7. Replace the battery holder and close the memory card slot / battery cover.
8. When the Date/Time menu appears set the date and time.

Remind me how 2 charge my camera please

Remove the battery from the camera and insert it into the supplied charger. Plug one end of the cord into the charger and the other end into a powe outlet. The indicator on the charger will glow red while charging, then blink when the battery is charged.

I have a Fuji Finepix S7000 digital camera. I works fine, but, when the batteries get discharged, the camera looses all the "setup" info (date, time, etc...)... Is there an internal battery or something...

There is no internal battery. When the batteries become discharged or removed, the camera retains the date/time settings for about 24 hours. Most people have backup batteries fully charged so when one set is low in the camera, they can make the change quickly.

Sony DSC-W150 power on keeps going to set date/time

The date and time settings are displayed after turning on the camera. Solution
sp.gif sp.gif It is normal for the camera to lose time and date settings if the internal battery is left uncharged for an extended period of time; some cameras will default to the time-setting screen when turned on if this happens. Follow the steps below to resolve this issue.
  1. Turn off the camera.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • Insert a fully-charged battery pack into the camera.
    • If the camera is supplied with an AC power adapter, plug the adapter into a working electrical outlet and then connect it to the camera.
  3. Allow the internal battery that retains the time and date information to charge for at least 90 minutes.
  4. After enough time has elapsed to sufficiently charge the internal battery, turn on the camera.
  5. Set the time and date.
  6. Turn off the camera for 30 seconds.
  7. Turn on the camera again.
  8. Check to see if the date and time have been saved.
The troubleshooting steps listed above should resolve your issue. If you have completed all of the steps and the issue is not resolved, service may be required. The Sony® eService Web site at http://eservice.sony.com/ can assist you in obtaining service from a Sony Service Center or locating a Sony Authorized Servicer.

Finepix 1400 info needed

No battery back-up. There is a capacitor that stores a bit of charge. This allows you to replace the batteries and still keep the date/time setting. Leaving the camera without batteries for 10 minutes will completely drain the capacitors. This will cause the date/time to reset.
