Canon ip2000 service error 5100

When trying to print service error 5100 comes up.unfortunately have misplaced manual so cannot find description of problem. any assistance would be greatly apprectiated

    Hello

    i turn on my canon and i get 2 flashes of orange.

    when i'm tryng to print, i get the 5100 error.

    Please help me

    Hi I have a service error 5510, re-set and power led's flash alternately.

    I have switched the printer off and restarted it again but to no avail!



    This happened approx 2 hours after cleaning the internal wates filter.

    The printer worked fine for about 20 or so minutes after the service and callibration, only to return to the desk, finding this problem had come about.

    Have exact same problem. Can switch it off but still the two flashy orange lights and no printing!!!

OMG i HAD THE SAME PROBLEM BUT I NEED TO CHANGE OUT THE OLD BLACK INK CARTARAGE FOR A NEW ONE THE PRINT HEAD WOULD NOT SLIDE OVER SO I COULD CHANGE IT I TRIED TO MOVE IT WITH MY FINGRES BUT NOTHING SO MY HUSBAND LOOKED AT IT AND WAS ABLE TO MOVE THE PRINT HEAD ENOUGH TO GET THE INK CARTARAGES OUT I REPLACED THE BLACK ALL IT GOOD NOW PRINTING AND NO MORE ERROR 5100 YEAH

Canon PIXMA iP1000 - Service Error 5100
It means that the waste ink absorbers are filled and you will need to replace them and take the machine to a service center.. Well thats what Canon says,, then when you get there they say buy a new one..

Any way forget them try this..
1.) unplug machine (power cable from back of printer.
2.) hold the power button down and plug cable back in.the printer light will stay on ,,
3.) still holding power,, press the paper feed button.. light will change to orange
4.) press paper feed button again.. It will turn to green
5.) release power button and enjoy..

Depend on the the firmware skip step 4...

That will bypass canons firmware and reset the counters.. Print as you will now..

Service error 5100
Hi You can Try 2 things.

ERROR 5100 means that there is some foreign object blocking your cartridges carriage that disables it from moving. Generally when this happens, something has fallen into the printer, or a piece of paper has been jammed in there.

First step, remove the ink cartridge, and turn the printer upside down and gently shake it, see if anything comes out.

If nothing goes, or you can't hear anything rattling around, get a piece of cardstock paper (60lb or heavier) and gently push this through the printer, to see if it will help push out what might be stuck in there


Next try.

It may be a piece of paper or a scotch tape or a staple wire.
Solution 1:
Clean the timing strip.

Solution 2:
The purge cap (the white sliding mechanism that the print head parks to when it's not in use) may be not lubricated well enough .

Lubricate the sliders with some white grease (don't get it on the small wipers or the black caps); this repair probably require to remove the right panel off of the printer to gain access to the purge mechanism.

may be the driver are not installed correctly ... just try reinstalling the drivers ... and make a check that you have inserted the ink cartilage or not ...
if not insert it and then give try ... it may work ..

if problem persists then call the service rep ...
