I connected all the wires to my router and there was only 2 lights on ...please help me im soo frustrated i jsut want to be able to use my latop with internet access ...=[
No probs, first let me explain about the connection, normally in a linksys router u would see 4 ethernet lights and 1 internet light, 1 power.. and a wlan light and cisco s/m light..if u turn on the power for the router, u would see the power light and the wlan light in the router, and if u connect ur modem to the router's internet port with a ethernet cable, u would c the inter light lit up., and if ur router is configured properly, u would be able to view ur w/ls n/w name in ur laptop and u can try to connect to the name and that would fix ur problem.. and in case ur router is not configured , connect a cable in any of the four ethernet slots in the router and ur laptop with a cable ..open a brower page .. login to 192.168.1.1 and the default user name and passwd is no user name (blank), passwd is admin, login to the setup, config the router and that would fix..or else connect all the cables and run the setup cd which came with ur router and that would fix the problem and then u can remove the cable in b/wn ur router and laptop..

Ok, so the ethernet port on your DSL or Cable modem has to be connected to the WAN port on the router first and foremost. Then I would suggest that you connect the ethernet port on the laptop to port 1 on the router, and attempt to log in that way. Bring up your browser (Internet Exploder, Netscape, etc.) and type 192.168.1.1 (if that doesn't work try 192.168.0.1, Linksys switches it up) in the adress bar... and ensure that you can get in that way. Then try surfing the web to see if it connects correctly... although you may need to speak to your Internet Service Provider to ensure that they are allowing your MAC Address to connect to their Network... the one under the WAN settings, NOT the LAN settings. It should look like this... MAC Address: 00:01:81:52:3f:99
