This morning, my tv simply shut off. The light on the front doesn't even turn on.
I unplugged the TV & waited, plugged it back in, still dead.
I removed back panel, but area where there might be a fuse was not easily accessable.
I have owned the TV for over 2 years, do not have extended warranty.
What can I do?

Re: No Power to TV
I would call or contact one of the shops on FixYa and get them to fix it. For this you may need to provide a schematic, what I would suggest doing is contacting the company and asking for the service documentation for the TV and then providing that to whomever you are having fix the device or if you feel comfortable do the work yourself you can use a FixYa Expert to start you on the process of troubleshooting the problem.
It sounds like you do have a power supply problem.

Hello sorry to hear that. From your description it sounds like your signal board may have been damaged by you plugging in your laptop to it. The signal board is the one with the tuner on it.
you can try to shut the tv off ,unplug the power to tv and anything that is powering the tv[pvr] .now plug in the power to the box first wait,30 seconds or so ,now plug in the tv wait, now turn the t.v. on,WAIT unless it starts smoking just wait.see what happens.
It sounds like you have a switch problem at the front panel of the set. If a switch gets stuck internally the micro is trying to process the command and won't respond to any other commands. The only way to find out is to go into the set and desolder all the manual switches and see if the remote will work the set. It has a seperate detector for the remote. Thanks for using fixya. Good luck
The STANDBY light will flash if the television detects an issue within the
television. Some of these issues can be resolved simply by following the steps
below to reset the television.
If the issue is still unresolved after following all of
the troubleshooting steps, Service will be required. Please note the number of times the
STANDBY light flashes and relay that information to the service center.
Turn off the television.
IMPORTANT: For a
projection television that uses an internal lamp, wait 5 minutes after turning
off the television to allow the lamp to cool before continuing with the
following steps.
Unplug the television power cord from the electrical outlet.
Let the television remain without power for 60 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet.
NOTE: If the television is
plugged into a power strip or surge protector, remove it from the power strip or
surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet. If the issue is
resolved, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the
television.
Try a power drain:
1. Unplug the TV's power cable so that the TV is not grounded to the house. Do not simply turn off a powerbar if one is in use.
2. Press and HOLD the TV's own power button for one minute to drain the capacitors.
3. Plug the TV back into a wall outlet versus a powerbar, if one is in use and see if this makes a difference.
If the TV still won't turn on but you have a LED light flashing, the problem is usually with the TV's mainboard and not the power supply or the LED wouldn't even be on. Service is likely required.
take your tv to technician who can check your power supply, if your power is coming on and off, than a problem is not as big. firstly let him check a ht of a supply constantly, your supply is cutting.
If you have Hitachi model number 50UX58B, 60UX58B, 50UX58K, 60UX58K, 50SBX78B or 60SBX78B and you have the following symptoms you may want to grab a repair kit from www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kit that includes the parts and instructions to fix these models. This is a fairly common problem with the above model numbers. It is typically caused by a blown capacitor and pico fuse. Again, you can get a kit from the above address.
Here are the symptoms...
Primary Symptom: No Audio or Video. Power light will come on briefly then shut off. Other Possible Symptoms : The green LEDs on the circuit board light up for a few seconds then turn off.
