I agree with Mr. hattonhall, but if your unit can read and play disc before probably you can use a CD Lens Cleaner to cleanse the LENS for it may be a dirty Lens that causes the Problem. Hope this helps..
My friend this could be caused by many things everything from a dirty OR damaged disk, or wrong zone or wrong tv mode disk ie, NTSC instead of PAL OR VICE VERSA! Or the laser unit could be stuffed or a cable connecting the dvd drive to the motherboard could be broken or out of place. Or the reader lens could be dusty or dirty. Some DVD disks need a damn good clean with warm soapy water to have any cleaning effect. clean and reins like you do the washing up! Check these things first. A word with a friendly local tech is the next step.....but we all know thats a money trail often more than the cost of a chepa new player!

For a long time, frequent cleaning seemed to help this finicky player read disks. Recently, it didn't help any more. In fact, the DVD-VR330 wouldn't even read the cleaning disks.
I read somewhere else how to carefully open the case and clean the lens. Since I had plenty of other paperweights, I gave it a shot. It worked! ... for a while.
Now, it won't read anything again. I tried cleaning again -- both using disks and the careful, direct, manual way. No go.
On an unrelated DVD player issue (bad DVD karma this month!), I learned that Panasonic players have a 3-button reset (like Alt-Ctl-Del, but it's [|<<] + [||] + [>] for 4 seconds).
Any idea if there's such a thing for Samsung players? Or should I just relegate this player to being a monitor stand? I guess it still plays VHS tapes....
Thanks in advance for any help.
Mine worked great for the awesome 90 day warranty period. Then it began to have trouble reading disks more and more often - even disks that it had just recorded. There is a reset button-sequence in the manual. That didn't help. Nor did cleaning.
Apparently Samsung made a huge blunder on this design. I may take to a service tech and have laser alignment checked, but to fix the problem, I bought a Panasonic!
