I just got this phone on ebay and it seemed to work fine until I tried to talk and the person on the other phone could not hear me but i could hear them just fine.Could this be mic problem and how costly is the fix?

You will have to try an open the phone to check to see if the microphone is missing or damaged since it is surface mount you might have to solder it. if you are not comfortable doing that I recommed sending it t a service center

It seems your mic problem. Mobile phones microphones are are used to get such defect. Motorola mic is ractangle type SMD(surface mount device) and replacement needs some skill. If you don't have enough knowledge please don't try to do yourself. Give it to skilled technician, he will replace it with new one but will charge you little.
