Reset hp amd to factory settings

Hello,

The particular error code (1009) is a generic error code for 'interrupted' for system recovery. Meaning, somehow, the recovery process was interrupted. For most HP machines this can be a simple as a few keys being pressed on the keyboard, a power interruption, bad disc, faulty hard drive, or some other form of read error during the process.

Unfortunately, the error code isn't specific enough to give you the best possible troubleshooting information, but I shall try to help as much as I can.

If you can provide the exact HP model number, I can provide a more specific solution for you; but, if you have a Desktop or Notebook computer that uses F11 (on start-up) to enter into system recovery, then you can do the following:

  1. Click Next when Welcome to Recovery Manager displays.
  2. Select No and then click Next when Microsoft System Restore displays.
  3. Select Yes and then click Next when System Recovery displays.
  4. Select the appropriate item (backup file or not) and then click Next when Recover your computer to original factory condition displays.
  5. Allow the system recovery process to complete.
NOTE: The PC will appear to FREEZE for several minutes (it can take quite a while depending on the Operating System you are installing), so do not turn off the power to your machine. If the machine stays frozen for longer than several hours, then chances are the hard drive is having issues, or the recovery image cannot be recovered.

If you have tried the above steps, and you are still failing with Error 1009, it usually points to a failure with the recovery medium (image on a CD, or image on the hard drive), or that the hard drive it is restoring too is having a write/read error. This can be worked around if you have a USB recovery media you can use.

If you have access to another computer, you can create a recovery key on a USB stick to boot your HP computer from, and then kick off the recovery process that way.

Those options, however, shouldn't be taken unless you have tried the above solutions first.

Regards,

Phillip

Bootmgr missing on hp pavilion slimline s5503w

This document pertains to HP and Compaq desktop PCs that came with Windows 7.The following error opens when attempting to start the PC:BOOTMGR is missingPress CTRL+ALT+DEL to restart the PCIf you recently installed an additional hard drive, turn off the computer and remove the drive before using the following steps:
  1. Open HP System Recovery:caution.pngCAUTION:Do not perform a system recovery! Stop at the first recovery screen.
    • Press the F11 key repeatedly while the computer is starting.
    • If you have a recovery disc, turn on the PC and insert the first recovery disc into the drive. Use the disc to enter the system recovery.
  2. Select Microsoft Startup Repair tool and wait for repair to find and fix errors. When finished, restart the computer; even if the startup repair tool finds errors but cannot fix them.
  3. If the error message persists, open the recovery manager screen as was done in step 1.
  4. At the recovery manager screen, press ALT + D.
  5. Enter the following text at the command prompt: bootrec /rebuildbcd
  6. If bootrec displays "Add installation to boot list?", press y .After bootrec completes successfully, the computer displays "The operation completed successfully".
  7. To close the command prompt, enter the following text: exit
  8. At the Recovery Manager screen, select Microsoft Startup Repair tool (again) and wait for startup repair to find and fix errors. When finished, restart the computer.
  9. The error should no longer open. If it does, perform a system recovery, making sure to backup important files.
If you removed a hard drive before using these steps, replace the drive. If the error occurs again, make sure the additional hard drive is not set as an active drive. Only the main bootable drive should be set as active.

I have a laptop HP Compaq 6720s and now I get the following code t.w. 0x4001001300001002 and when I will restarted the computer the message boot.mgr missing. What must I do?

That error means that the Boot Manager is Missing. This is usualy caused by either a failed hard drive, or a failed attempt at recovery. If you try to do a recovery and then suddenly halt the process, weather on purpose or due to somthing like power failure, then the first bit of the Recovery boot process, the BTMNGR, can be hosed. If this happens then your only option is to order recovery disks from the manufacturer and install the OS that way.

You might boot into bios (F10 on startup) and do a hard drive self test first to make sure you dont have a hard drive problem...

I just restarted my HP and now it says there is no hard drive and I dont have a recovery disk

try disconnecting the drive and reseating it first.

If you enter the bios (f10 on startup) does the computer even detect the drive? If not - try reseating it - don't forget to power off first

Failing that try the hp recovery partition
1
Press the power button to start the HP. Press and hold the F11 key to launch the HP Recovery Manager from the recovery partition.
2
Backup any files you want to save. Follow the HP Recovery Manager instructions to save any important files before continuing with the recovery process.
3
Continue the recovery process. After backing up files to an external device or CD/DVDs, select the option to perform a system recovery.
4
Obtain and install updates for the HP. After your system reboots, use HP update manager as well as Windows update to restore all critical updates to your HP computer.
5
Make a set of recovery disks. Use HP Recovery Manager and select "Advanced Options" to create a set of recovery disks that can be used in the event that your HP cannot access the hard drive.

Wont restore OS from restore disk

Perform recovery using HP recovery manager.i.e. Press F11 during boot up and it will take you to the HP recovery manager.

HP and Compaq Notebook PCs are configured with a recovery manager or recovery media that enables you to repair or reinstall the original operating system. Depending on the model of the notebook PC, there may be a recovery CD or DVD included, or your model may have the Recovery Manager tool to create a personal recovery disc. You can also order a replacement recovery disc from HP.

Also check the below for the error occurs while performing the recovery/restore.

HP --Bioscrypt Verisoft fingerprint reader -- Error

Oh your going to hate me but unfortunately under vista if your credential manager gets corrupted the only way around is a total reimage - back to when it came out of the box. To do a full reimage using your recovery partition on power up to HP post screen tap F11 until the recovery manager starts - select advanced tab - full system recovery no backup - full destructive - this time when you get to your client details for setup after the recovery process select your password with care and when the time comes for for the finger print reader enabling under the credential manager the finger to use is your right small finger = the little pinkie >> it gets less work and is less prone to possible damage - small irregulaties are enough to fail a reading.
So I hope this helps but unfortunately a full destructive recovery is required.
