I bought the yh920 used and even though media player said the device was completely empty of music, the playlist on the mp3 player showed it was full of music. I have done the reformat on the player and reinstalled the firmware, although Samsung site said OS should be XP and I have Vista. Now the player says the firmware needs repaired and to connect to recovery utility. However, when I try to use recovery utility my computer says no device connected and try again. I have loaded my music on the player through media player, and I am able to play music stored on the players HDD through media player, however, the mp3 player is completely useless since it will always shut itself off as soon as I disconnect it from the USB.

I have had my player since Xmas 2004 and it has been completely useless since about Jan 2005 - I had exactly the same problem. I tried everything and Samsung were useless too ("turn it off and back on again"). None of the software patches etc on their website worked, but I recently just found it in a box and thought I'd give it another go....

So, what worked for me was to plug it in to my computer and although a bunch of error message come up I can still see it in the 'my computer' folder. Right-click the icon and click 'format'. Leave it as FAT32 and all the other settings the same too, but click the 'quick format' checkbox (or whatever it says in English - I'm running the Spanish version of Windows). This will completely wipe the thing clean, so make sure you have a copy of any music files etc currently on there...

Then go to the Samsung website, then 'support'. Enter the player you have and it will take you to the downloads page. Click the 'Firmware tab' then download the file called " YH-920GS YH-920 System files (ver.1.0)" Once you have downloaded that just open the folder and copy and paste all the files onto the empty mp3 player via 'my computer'.

MP3 players can only play music files in mp3 file format. You can download mp3 music files from the Internet toyour computer and then copy them to your MP3 player. For your CD collection, you need to convert your CDs tomp3 music files onto your computer or download them from the Internet and thencopy them to your MP3 player after you have connected the USB cable tothe MP3 player and the computer.
You can do this using Windows Media player and Rip the CDs - Media Player willcreate a MP3 music file for each music track. Click on this link for instruction on converting musicfiles to mp3 file format :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r5798418-creating_transferring_mp3_music_files

I download songs onto my computer that I want to ...

I'm assuming you have the Zune software installed. You'll need the software in order to interact with the Zune device, it does not work as a "mass-storage device" like some other media players.
The Zune software will find all your music. Open the software and on the top left make sure you're in the "Collection" and then "Music" category. Then click on the right hand side on the "Songs" tab. You'll see all your songs on your computer. Connect the Zune and wait a few seconds and in the bottom left hand corner of the software you'll see your device connected.
Click on one of the songs and then press "CTRL + A" and all of your songs will be selected. Click and hold and then drag one of the songs to the little icon of your Zune in the bottom left and then all of your music will sync to the device.
Hope this helps.

I got a problem with my mp3

Hello,

Transfers onto the m240 can be done in 2 USB connection modes:
MTP mode: Media Transfer Protocol using software, e.g. Windows Media Player 10 or higher.
MSC mode: Mass Storage Class using Windows Explorer, looking in "My Computer" viewing the player as a removable disk.

Typically, songs put onto the player in MSC mode can not be viewed in MTP mode and the other way around.

Switching to MSC mode in the player's menu:
Look in the player under Settings Menus > USB > select MSC for using the "copy and paste" or "drag and drop" method for transfers in "My Computer".
When Auto Detect is selected, it depends on the configuration of the computer, what setup for priority has been installed.

Forcing the player into MSC mode:
1. Turn device OFF.
2. Facing the hold switch slide it to the right so an orange color would show putting the device on Hold.
3. Connect the device to the PC.

Information for the USB connection mode and how to make hidden files in XP and Vista visible, on the support site:

My daughter has an ipod nano and i dont know how to put songs for free onto it. i need easy instructions plz......

You need to have iTunes installed on your computer. It's a free download from Apple. Load your CD's into iTunes or buy songs from the Apple iTunes Music Store. Connect your iPod and synch. Note: most songs are copyrighted so you can't get them for FREE, that is stealing.

Cant figure out how 2 put songs from my SD memory card 2 my phone

Plug your phone into your computer using the usb cable. Then go into media, and my music. Click sync and it should connect then just use the windows media player. Thats how I do it. If it doesn't connect its because you dont have the right drivers installed. I dont know if doing it the way you are is supposed to work or not. I have never tried it. Hope this helps. Good luck.
