I recently bought a used Samsung SGH-A437 off someone. When I tried to turn it on, I was prompted to enter a password. By now I have worked out that the password is for the phone itself and not for the SIM card. I can't figure out what the password is. However, I was wondering if there was a method to reset the phone. Thank You.

hello, to reset the password, go to menu, go to settings, the one with a spanner logo, check for the security, select password, click on phone password, enter the old password, then enter the new password, re enter the new password and it would reset.
Check the manual usually they are like 1111 1234 or 0000 by default. if that doesn't work try last 4 of phone number and this code *#8999*8378# - Service Menu should allow you to reset phone to default and fix the issue
