I want to change the ink in my printer but cant find my book on how to do this can you help

Open the printer, Press the button below the power button (maint button) the carriage will move across to indicate which cartridge needs changing. Keep pressing until the carriage moves into the replacement position. After replacing the cart's make sure the lid "clicks" down fully and close the printer, then press the maint. button once more. The guides can be downloaded from Epson:

How to change cartridges epson stylus sx 400
From older Epsons: If the ink cartridges are empty (red light on), hold the ink switch 3 seconds to move the print head to the left. If they are not empty, hold paper switch until print head moves left. Once you remove a cartridge you can't reuse it, even if there's ink in it according to Epson.
