Re: Acer Travelmate 2200 laptop
Try taking the laptop battery out. You can remove the laptop battery by turning it over, you'll usually see some sliders at the bottom, slide them to the unlock position and you should be able to wedge your battery out. The battery usually comes in a very tall and thin rectangular shape.
Once the battery is out, plug the laptop in through the mains power - this may solve your problem, if it does, you'll need a new battery if you wish to use it on the move.
If it does not solve your problem, it is either a faulty power adaptor, or a faulty power supply on the motherboard of your laptop. A faulty power adaptor or battery is the best case scenario, as it's the cheapest to buy a replacement (although it's still expensive - $120 worth in the UK roughly). A faulty power supply on the mainboard generally means you'll need a replacement mainboard which is totally uneconomical, especially with the labour cost to fit it professionally.
If the battery and power adaptor is not faulty, you might as well scrap it and get a new laptop. Good luck Tina!

I will assume you are finding the procedure to remove battery for the ACER travelmate C300 tablet PC. Best way would be to go to page 50 in the service manual available at this site. http://tim.id.au/laptops/acer/travelmate%20c300.pdf
The battery not charging could simply be the battery is old and dead or the charging circuit is faulty. Start with the adapter in that case as it is cheapest to replace.
If you are removing parts to diagnose further then I would strongly suggest you video what you are doing in order to get back to where you started.
"Calibrating" a laptop battery is one way to increase the lifespan of a battery that doesn't last long. The procedure involves two steps: fully discharging the battery, then then fully charging it immediately thereafter. It's important to note that a full discharge doesn't mean you drain your battery until your computer powers off, but rather that you deplete it until it reaches a level of approximately 3 percent capacity, according to BatteryCare.com.
1. Charge the laptop battery to 100 percent. Allow the laptop to sit plugged-in and fully-charged for approximately two hours.
2. Click the "Battery" icon in the lower, right corner of the Windows Taskbar and click "More Power Options." Click "Change When the Computer Sleeps," then click "Change Advanced Power Settings."
3. Scroll down to "Battery" and click the "Plus Sign" icon next to it. Click "Critical Battery Level," then click the arrow to decrease the number to "3." Click "Apply," then click "OK."
4. Unplug your laptop and continue using the computer until it reaches 3 percent, at which point it hibernates automatically. Allow the computer to hibernate for at least five hours, then plug it in and allow it to recharge fully.
I hope you find it very helpful. Thank you for using fixya.
Hi, does your laptop tuns off as soon as booting is finished and the main screen is on? If yes then your system is infected by some virus becoz i was also suffering from same problem few months back.I purchased a new antivirus "kaspersky" and my problem was solved.
Hi, Remove the adapter and the battery from the laptop.
Press the power button and hold it down for 20 seconds(without the
battery or adapter plugged in to it). This process is called POWER
Now connect only the adapter and try to turn it on.
If it starts up, there is no problem with the adapter or the laptop.
If it doesn't, it can be either the adapter or the laptop.
You will have to check it with a different adapter to confirm which one is faulty.
The second case is that the computer powers on only with the adapter.
Then you can put the battery back in and try powering it up.
If it doesn't work, try connecting the adapter too.
If still it doesn't work, its a faulty battery.
Sometimes after doing a power drain, the computer will work fine.
