I need the password to unlock my projector.

As you said you received the projector from your fried.and if its new i dint know.but if he was using it he must have definately set a password in it.but now at present you dont remember the password dont worry there is a system to reset the password and i m providing that as follows:--
If you forget the password
You will be asked to enter the four digit password every time you turn on the projector. If
you enter the wrong password, the password error message displays. You can retry by
turning off the projector (by pressing Power) and start again, or if you did not record the
password in this manual, and you absolutely do not remember it, you can use the password
recall procedure.
To enter the password recall procedure
Press and hold Right4 for 5 seconds. The projector will display a coded number on the
screen. Seek help from the local BenQ service center to decode the number. You may be
required to provide proof of purchase documentation to verify that you are an authorized
user of the projector.
To change the password
1. Open the on-screen menu and go to Setting > Change Password.
2. Press Left 3 or Right4. A “Password Change” message displays.
3. Enter the old password.
i. If the password is correct, you can go on to enter new password.
IMPORTANT: Write your selected password down here in this manual so that it is available to
you should you ever forget it.

Keep this manual in a safe place.
ii. If the password is incorrect, a “Password Error” message displays. Press Up 5 to
try again or press Down 6 to cancel.
4. Check the new password.
i. Pressing Auto completes the procedure.
ii. Press Up 5 to try again.
iii. Press Down 6 to cancel the set-up and return to the on-screen menu.

Try factory restore settings

U need to re install the the setup of ur projector through net ..
jus connect to net and run sofware updater , it will refresh ur password ..

You need to write down the 4 groups of 4 or 5 digits the projector is showing up and, with that number and a proof of purchase, your local BenQ support office might give you the 4 digits code.

The password could be any of over 100,000 cobinations, think u are out of luck on this one.

What happen?? why it command you a code? do you set the security? or there is a service problem on it/

You have to contact BENQ with the required code numbers to get an unlock code. No one else can issue an unlock code. If the projector was stolen, you will not get a code but will probably get a cop at your door instead.

Contact BENQ in your local country by going to their web pages.

Hi you can try to re-install the the setup of ur projector through internet
just connect to the internet via the usb cable and run software updater, it will restore your password to its default settings.

A master code was 9001.

If that does not work, then you have two ways out.


1 Contact Benq and have the password unloacked with a master code. Here is the contact page: http://benq.com/support/

2 Disassemble the projector completely (at your risk). Access to the CMOS battery located on lower side of projector mainboard. Remove battery for one minute to reset password.
