LCD screen goes black when opened

My view finder goes black too. Ribbon cable connected to the view finder is cracked. This is a design flaw. They should have used a different type of material to create the connection from the view finder to the camera. You have to open the view finder every time to see what you are recording. I would like to find out the part number for this ribbon cable and where to order one. I really like the video this camera takes. My view finder goes black too. If I open it the screen turns black with linesor , you can see the screen is fully funtional. Not sure what the problem is, all other camera functions are working. If your camera model begins with PV ----- If the unit is over the 90 day warranty period but within the 1 year parts warranty period, the flat rate repair charge is $161.50 (Return Shipping Included). If unit was purchased over 1 year ago, the flat rate repair charge is $261.50 (Return Shipping Included). Please include a check or a credit card number to eliminate any delays in processing your repair.

Has anyone found this part yet? I can't seem to find anyone online that even sells replacement parts for these cameras. At the flat repair rate that Panasonic quotes on their website you may as well buy a new camcorder, which I'm sure is what they want you to do anyways.

same problem with me. First LCD display was functional when partially opened but now it is completely black at all times.

Please let me know if anybody solved the same problem ?
